Why Is My TikTok Account Suspended

TikTok has taken the social media market by storm. Being a responsible social media platform, TikTok has community guidelines to keep its 1.3B+ users in check. If you knowingly or unknowingly break the company rules, TikTok has the right to temporarily or permanently ban your account. Here are the top reasons why your TikTok account is suspended and possible tricks to get it back.

You can always create a new TikTok account, but it’s not a feasible solution as you lose your followers, uploaded videos and messages. Before your other TikTok accounts receive a suspension, learn about the factors that cause a soft or permanent ban.

TikTok Community Guidelines

As mentioned, TikTok comes with a range of community guidelines. When you create a new TikTok account, you agree to the company’s terms and conditions. Since most users don’t read these terms, they may unwillingly end up breaking TikTok rules and face a suspension. When you post videos that have the following content, the company may ban you from the platform.

  • Promoting domestic or criminal violence.
  • Showcasing terrorist organizations or weapons in videos.
  • Advertising drug-related content in videos.
  • Sharing graphical animal content such as slaughter or abuse.
  • Promoting hateful speech against religious groups, political parties, or other communities.
  • Videos harassing women or children.
  • Videos that are of a sexual nature.
  • Bullying someone in a video.
  • Videos of suicide or self-harm of any kind.
  • Disordered eating or any harmful weight loss behaviors.
  • Dangerous activities and challenges.
  • Manipulated media of any kind.
  • Fake engagement.
  • Unlicensed videos.
  • Spam behavior from your account.
  • Promoting alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.

You should keep the points above in mind before posting content on TikTok. Check TikTok’s dedicated page if you want to learn more.

What Happens When Your TikTok Account Is Suspended

There are three types of TikTok banks.

  • Permanent ban: You can’t log in to your account. You can contact TikTok customer care, but the chances of getting back your account access are slim.
  • Temporary ban: You can only like, comment, and follow on TikTok. You can’t post content on the platform.
  • Shadowban: TikTok restricts your content and profile, and you may notice a decrease in followers, views, and overall engagement.

When you face a permanent ban, the monetization of your current videos stops. If you face a temporary ban, you will receive an email from TikTok. Post that, you will have to wait between 24 to 48 hours to revert the ban.

What To Do When Your Account Is Suspended

You can try several tricks to get your TikTok account back. When the company detects abnormal traffic on a specific IP address or a device, it may temporarily restrict it. You can sign into TikTok on another device and try again. You can also use a VPN network, connect to another server (that should modify the IP address), and try your luck.

You can report a problem through TikTok’s mobile app as well. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open TikTok on your phone and go to profile.

Step 2: Tap the hamburger menu at the top and open Settings and privacy.

Step 3: Scroll down and tap Report a problem.

Step 4: Scroll down and select Submit a report.

Step 5: Describe your TikTok account problems, upload photos or videos as proof, and hit Submit.

Contact TikTok

If you can’t access your TikTok account, you can reach out to the company via a direct email. You need to drop an email to a concerned TikTok department and wait for their reply.

Tips to Avoid TikTok Suspension

Once TikTok restores your account, keep the following tips in mind to avoid the same fate in the future.

  • Follow TikTok’s guidelines.
  • Don’t use third-party apps and tools to increase engagement on TikTok. The company’s algorithm will eventually catch up to you and ban your activities.
  • Don’t post too many videos in a short time.
  • Don’t like or comment on dozens of videos in a short time.
  • Be respectful and avoid sharing questionable content in direct messages.

Restore Your TikTok Account

You will likely face a temporary ban only if you have committed a minor violation. It usually lasts for 24 to 48 hours. If you have committed a major offense, you may have to wait around a week.
