4 Ways to Fix Whatsapp Web Not Syncing

Quick Tips
  • Ensure both your smartphone and computer are connected to a reliable network to ensure seamless connectivity.
  • Update both the smartphone as well as the desktop app to the latest version to get rid of bugs.
  • Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp on your smartphone if you’re facing issues with setting up WhatsApp Web/Desktop.

Fix 1: Remove the Linked Device and Add It Again

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your smartphone and go to the Settings page. Tap on Linked Devices.

Step 2: Tap on the device where you’re facing sync issues on WhatsApp Web. Select Log Out.

Step 3: Now, go back to the previous menu and select Link a Device.

Open WhatsApp Web on your computer and scan the QR code.

Fix 2: Clear WhatsApp’s Cache On Your Phone

Clearing the cache can fix sync issues more often than not. However, this is only applicable on an Android phone and not if you’re using an iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Android phone and navigate to the Apps section. Tap on See all apps and scroll down till you find WhatsApp and tap on it.

Step 2: Select Storage and cache. Now, choose the Clear cache option.

Fix 3: Switch from Beta Version to Stable Version

If you’re using a beta version of WhatsApp on your smartphone, it may be causing sync issues on WhatsApp Web. Beta software is more often than not unstable and can cause multiple bugs or problems.

Uninstall the beta version and install the stable version of WhatsApp from your respective app store based on which smartphone you use. Make sure you back up your WhatsApp data before uninstalling the app, though.

Fix 4: Use the Desktop App Instead of the Browser

Some users have observed that the desktop version of WhatsApp on Windows and macOS functions better than using WhatsApp Web on a web browser. It’s surely worth a try to see if it fixes sync issues.

WhatsApp desktop app

Download the WhatsApp Desktop app from the Microsoft Store or the App Store, depending on what computer you use. You will have to link a new device again using your smartphone. You can follow point number two for instructions on how to do it.

  1. Same here nothing helped to fix the sync problem, the desktop app even worst I lost more contacts ! as far as I can see Chrome on win7 worked best I can get the full contact list, where Firefox second I only lost one contact, but on Linux both browser not working properly, I don’t know what kind of network Whatsapp desktop required ! Synchronization is the most troubling problem to me, where media sent and received get hidden (“.nomedia” added to folder) is another pain on my neck !
