How to Play YouTube Music on Amazon Echo

Amazon has one of the best smart speaker lineups with Echo devices. There are different Echo speakers at different price points to work with various third-party apps and accessories. One notable omission from the list is Google’s YouTube Music service. You can always connect your Amazon Echo to a smartphone via Bluetooth and play YouTube Music on it.

Amazon has offered required APIs to developers to integrate a music streaming service with Alexa on Echo. Popular names like Apple Music, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and Apple Podcasts already support Alexa. Google hasn’t boarded the Alexa train yet. You need to use the Bluetooth trick to play YouTube on Amazon Echo.

This post will show you how to connect your phone to Amazon Echo through Bluetooth and play videos from YouTube Music or any other streaming service.

Download Alexa App on iPhone or Android

First, you need to download the Alexa app for iOS or Android. It’s the core app to learn new Alexa tricks, tweak Amazon Echo, manage Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi network, and more. You can set up, manage, and customize Alexa (Amazon’s voice assistant) and your Amazon Echo device using the Alexa app on mobile.

Search for Alexa app in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Install the app on your phone and proceed.

We will use Alexa for iOS in the screenshots below. You can follow the same steps on Alexa for Android as the apps use an identical user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design.
