WhatsApp app forces the video upload/send limit to 16MB so that the sharing experience is nearly the same for everyone. In 2021, 16MB is too small, considering that today's smartphones can easily record 4K videos. That said, there are some ways to bypass the video limit to send high-quality videos on WhatsApp on iPhone and Android.
Using the official method, when you try to send a bigger video than 16MB, WhatsApp will heavily compress the video file and make it a potato quality to fit in the 16MB limit. Sometimes, it defeats the purpose of sending a video on WhatsApp when you want the receiving person to look for specific details.
You can easily send high-quality video files on WhatsApp on Android and iPhone using the solutions mentioned below. Let’s get started.

1. Send Video as a File
WhatsApp allows you to send files as a document/file. So instead of sending your video as a video file, you can share it as a regular file.
Users can easily select video as a file and send up to 100MB of uncompressed video files. Follow the steps below.
On iPhone, you need to save the video from the Photos app to the Files app. Only after that, you will be able to browse and send the video on WhatsApp.
Don’t worry though. It’s much simpler than it sounds. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Photos app on the iPhone.
Step 2: Open the video that you want to send on WhatsApp.
Step 3: Select the Share button at the bottom.
Step 4: Tap on Save to Files option and select the location where you want to save the video.
Step 5: Open WhatsApp and move to the conversation.
Step 6: Tap on the + icon and select Document.
Step 7: Browse the Files app and select the saved video that you want to send.
Step 8: Tap on the Send button at the top and send the video in high-quality on iPhone.
Unlike the usual method, you won’t be able to see the video preview. One can only see the video name and size.
On Android, you don’t need to save the video as a file as you can easily browse the entire photos and videos library using the default file manager. Go through the steps below.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp and move to the conversation.
Step 2: Tap on the little Pin icon and select Document.
Step 3: Tap on Browse other documents. You can use the Videos filter at the top to quickly see all the videos saved on the device.
Step 4: Tap on the video and hit the Send button to share the high-quality video on WhatsApp Android.

2. Use Cloud Storage App
The trick above is limited to sending files up to 100MB in size. There is no way to bypass that limitation.
If you want to send a video file more than 100MB in size, you need to take a helping hand from cloud storage services such as Google Drive or OneDrive.
Simply upload the video to these platforms and generate a sharable link. Here’s how to do it.
Note: In the example below, we are using Google Drive app as it’s the most popular cloud service out there and offers a generous 15GB of storage, to begin with.
The screenshots below are from the iPhone app. Since the Google Drive app uses the same UI on iOS and Android, the trick will work on Android.
Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Photos and browse the video that you want to send.
Step 2: Tap on the Share button and upload it to Google Drive.
Step 3: Open the Google Drive app and locate the video.
Step 4: Locate the three-dot menu beside the video.
Step 5: Tap the Copy link option from the bottom menu.
Step 6: Open the WhatsApp app and move to the conversation.
Step 7: Paste the Google Drive link and you are all set to go.
The receiving person can simply open the Google Drive link and download or watch the video.
