What Is the Use of the Undo Delete Feature?
If you’re like me, who has hit the Delete for me button instead of the Delete for everyone option in haste, this new feature is a lifesaver.
It allows you to undo the delete action and restore the message. After doing this, you can delete the message for everyone if that’s what you intended to do in the first place. It saves you from embarrassment.
How to Undo Deleted WhatsApp Messages
Step 1: Open the conversation where you want to delete a WhatsApp message. Tap and hold on to a message to delete.
Step 2: If you accidentally delete the message for yourself by tapping Delete for me, you will see a small banner at the bottom with an Undo button. Tap on it.
Step 3: Now, select the message again and choose Delete for everyone.

Yes, the same procedure can be used to restore a deleted image. In fact, this method can be used to restore any media file, including a video, audio, or document.
WhatsApp gives you 5 seconds to undo a deleted message. As soon as you delete a message for yourself, you will see a small banner at the bottom of the screen that lasts for 5 seconds. If you don’t tap on the undo button in that duration, it will disappear and you cannot restore the message after that.
No, you can only undo messages you delete at present. However, you can delete and restore older messages from a chat even if the message was sent before this feature was rolled out.
Unfortunately, the ability to undo deleted WhatsApp chats isn’t available yet. It would indeed be a nice feature, though. We hope WhatsApp rolls it out soon.
