Basic Fixes:
- Ensure your account is not restricted: X moderators may restrict your account to read-only mode. You can’t like, retweet, reply, or post new Tweets during this period. Check your email for such messages from X to confirm.
- Restart the app: You can restart the X app and try again. To do this, swipe up and hold from the bottom to open the recent apps menu. Then, swipe up on X to close it. Open the app again and check.
- Check for app updates: An outdated X app may cause issues uploading photos and videos with a Tweet. When this happens, check and ensure the X app is updated on your phone.
Fix 1: Check Data Usage Settings on X
If you have enabled data saver mode on X, you may face issues when uploading high-quality images and videos. This happens as the app prioritizes data saving, causing big photo or video uploads to fail. Here’s how to disable it.
Step 1: Open X and tap your profile picture. Go to Settings and Support and tap Settings and privacy.

Step 2: Tap on Accessibility, display, and languages. Then, tap on Data usage.

Step 3: Turn off the Data saver toggle. Then, tap on High-quality image uploads.
Step 4: From the options, select On cellular or Wi-Fi.

Fix 2: Disable System-Wide Data Saver
A system-wide data saver mode can affect the media upload process on X, as your phone prioritizes data saving and restricts certain app functions. So, disable the data saver mode on iPhone and Android. Here’s how.
On iPhone
Step 1: Open Settings and tap on Mobile Services.
Step 2: Select your main SIM and disable the Low Data Mode toggle.

On Android
Step 1: Launch Settings and select Network and internet.
Step 2: Tap Data Saver and turn the Use Data Saver toggle off.

Fix 3: Log Out and Login Again
X media upload can fail due to an account authentication error. This can happen if you have recently changed your account password. In this case, you can log out from your account and sign back in with the updated account details. Here’s how.
Step 1: Open X → tap on your profile picture → Settings and Support → Settings and privacy → Your account.

Step 2: Then, tap Account information. Tap Log out and confirm the same.

Once done, sign in again with the correct X account details and check if the issue has been fixed on your phone.
