Telegram lets you sign in to your account on multiple devices and access your chats. You can also choose to log out devices from your Telegram account, especially while switching to a new device. But what if Telegram starts logging you out automatically from your device?

That’s exactly what some users have complained of, and if you are also asking yourself, ‘why is Telegram logging me out?’, we bring you the best solutions for mobile and desktop to fix the same.
1. Check Automatic Log Out Duration
Telegram lets you set a duration of inactivity, after which your connected devices will be logged out automatically. The first solution that we recommend is checking this duration for your connected devices on the Telegram app.
On Mobile
Step 1: Open Telegram on your iPhone or Android phone.

Step 2: On iPhone, tap the Settings icon at the bottom-right corner. On Android, tap the hamburger menu icon at the top-left corner and select Settings.

Step 3: Select Devices.

Step 4: Scroll down and tap on ‘If Inactive For’ and check the duration of inactivity.

We suggest selecting six months so that even if your device is inactive for a longer duration, it still won’t log out.
On Desktop
Step 1: Open Telegram on your Mac or Windows PC.

Step 2: On your Mac, click the Settings icon on the left side.

On your Windows PC, click the hamburger icon at the top-left corner and select Settings.

Step 3: Select Active Sessions.

Step 4: Click on ‘If Inactive For’ and check the duration of device inactivity.

2. Check Internal Storage
If Telegram is still logging you out randomly, you should check the status of internal storage on your mobile and desktop. The app requires enough storage to run smoothly and store downloaded media on your device. You might have to clear some storage on your mobile or desktop for Telegram to work without hiccups.
Check Storage on iPhone
Step 1: Open the Settings app and tap on General.

Step 2: Tap on iPhone Storage.

You will get to see how much storage do apps and services occupy on your iPhone.

You can select an app that you don’t want to use anymore and delete it.
You can also choose to clear Other Storage on your iPhone if it occupies too much space.
Check Storage on Android
On your Android phone, open Settings and tap on Storage.

You will see which categories of apps and services are occupying the internal storage. The simplest way is to delete apps from your Android phone to clear up storage. But you can also refer to our post to learn the best ways to free up space on Android without deleting apps.

3. Clear Telegram Cache
Telegram collects cache data over some time to make the app more responsive. But older cache data is prone to get corrupted, and that can cause issues like automatic log out. We suggest clearing the Telegram cache on your mobile and desktop.
On Mobile
Step 1: Open Telegram on your iPhone or Android phone.

Step 2: On iPhone, tap the Settings icon at the bottom-right corner. On Android, tap the hamburger menu icon at the top-left corner and select Settings.

Step 3: Select Data and Storage and tap on Storage Usage.

Step 4: Tap on Clear Entire Cache and tap on it again to confirm.

After you follow this step, you will have to download your media files again, which will be saved in the Telegram cloud.
On Desktop
Step 1: Open Telegram on your Mac or Windows PC.

Step 2: On your Mac, click the Settings icon on the left side.

On your Windows PC, click the hamburger icon at the top-left corner and select Settings.

Step 3: Click on Data and Storage from the left menu.

Step 4: Click on Storage Usage on the right side.

Step 5: Click on Clear Entire Cache.

Step 6: Select Clear Entire Cache again to confirm.

4. Disable VPN Service
Using a VPN can help in accessing content or data outside your region. But keeping it enabled while using Telegram can cause such issues. We suggest disabling VPN service on mobile and desktop. If you are using VPN on your computer, you can visit its website and disable it.
Disable VPN on Android
Step 1: Open Settings and tap on Network and Internet.

Step 2: Tap on VPN.

Step 3: Tap the Settings icon next to the VPN service name.

Step 4: Ensure that the VPN service has been disabled.

Disable VPN on iPhone
Open the Settings app and tap the toggle next to VPN to disable it.

Instead of a VPN, try setting up a Proxy connection on Telegram.
5. Force Quit and Relaunch Telegram
If you are still getting logged out from your Telegram account, try to force quit and relaunch the app. This will give the app a fresh start.
Force Quit on iPhone
Step 1: On the home screen, swipe up and hold to reveal the background app windows.
Step 2: Swipe right to look for Telegram and swipe up to remove the Telegram app.

Step 3: Relaunch Telegram and check if the problem is solved.

Force Quit on Android
Step 1: Long-press the Telegram app icon and tap on App Info.

Step 2: Tap on Force Stop and select Ok to confirm.

Step 3: Close App Info and open Telegram again to check if the problem is solved.

Force Quit on Mac
Step 1: Click the Apple logo at the top-right corner and select Force Quit.

Step 2: Select the Telegram app and click on Force Quit.

Step 3: Relaunch Telegram and check if the problem is solved.

Force Quit on Windows 11
Step 1: Press the Start button on the taskbar to open the Start menu, type Task Manager, and press Enter to open Task Manager.

Step 2: Click on Telegram and select Force Stop.

Step 3: Close Task Manager and open Telegram again to check if the problem is solved.
