Change Screenshot Location in Windows 11

You might want to change the screenshot storage location to Documents or any other folder. Here’s how to do it.

Note: The steps outlined below are relevant for PCs and laptops with Windows 11 Home Edition (23H2).

Step 1: Press the Windows + E keys to open File Explorer.

Step 2: Select the Pictures folder on the left pane.

Step 3: Right-click on the Screenshots folder from the list.

Step 4: Select Properties from the context menu. You can also use the Alt + Enter keyboard shortcut.

Step 5: Select the Location tab at the top.

Step 6: Select Move, and it will open the default screenshot location on Windows 11.

Step 7: Select a new folder or drive as the new location to save screenshots.

Change Screenshot Location Using the Snipping Tool

The Prt Sc key captures the entire screen, including the taskbar, clock, and app menu bar. On the other hand, the Snipping Tool can capture a certain part of the screen.

However, the Snipping Tool won’t immediately save the screenshot to a folder. Instead, it will open a pop-up window for further edits, after which you can save the screenshot to the desired folder. Here’s how to use it.

Step 1: Whenever you want to take a screenshot, press the Windows + Shift + S keys to use the Snipping Tool.

Step 2: Capture the desired area of the screen and click on the pop-up in the notification center to open the Snipping Tool in full screen.

Step 3: Make changes using a highlighter, pen, cropping tool, and ruler. Then, hit the Save icon at the top-right corner or use the Windows + S keys to save the screenshot.

Step 4: The Snipping Tool will ask you to select a folder to save the screenshot. You can repeat the steps to capture a screenshot and save them to a different location of your liking.
