Fix 1: Close Background Apps
Microsoft Teams may sometimes cause high CPU and memory usage, which could easily lead to lag problems.
Step 1. Open Task Manager using Ctrl + Shift + Esc, and switch to the Processes tab.
Step 2. Locate the apps that are not used and those that are consuming resources in the background. Right-click on them and select End task.

Step 3. Launch Teams again and check if you notice any improvements.
Closing any other programs running video content is crucial if you want Teams to work smoothly—close all the browser tabs you don’t actively use.
Fix 2: Disable Read Receipts
Turning off read receipts may reduce the lag frequency in Microsoft Teams. Of course, this means you can’t see if the recipient saw your messages. However, disabling read receipts to alleviate lag issues is a wise trade-off.
Step 1: Click on the three-dot menu next to your Profile photo and select Settings.

Step 2: Switch to Privacy and toggle off Read receipts.

Fix 3: Check Your Network
If too many people use the same Wi-Fi channel you’re connected to, this could lead to bandwidth issues. If your computer doesn’t get enough bandwidth, Teams and all the other apps will start lagging, especially if you’re in a video conference.
So, restart your router and disconnect the other people using the same connection. Additionally, use a cable connection if that’s possible. If not, switch to a different Wi-Fi channel or get a Wi-Fi adapter to improve your Wi-Fi range and reliably.
Fix 4: Temporarily Turn off Video
Sometimes, the typing response may be slow because of heavy usage. So, we recommend turning off your video if you are not presenting. You can manually turn off the camera from the meeting control. Once you are done typing, turn it back on. Additionally, remember to disable incoming video.
Fix 5: Delete the Cache
As your cache files pile up, Teams can become laggy and unresponsive. Try clearing your app cache. Remember to delete cache files every two weeks to avoid technical glitches.
Step 1: Type %appdata%\Microsoft\teams in the Run prompt (Win +R) and press Enter.
Step 2: Then, locate and remove all the files from the Cache folder, Blob_storage folder, databases folder, GPUCache, Local Storage, and the tmp folder. If there is an IndexedDB folder, delete the .db file.

Step 3. Restart your computer and check the results of this action.
