5 Ways to Find Your Android When it’s in Silent Mode

Quick Tips
  • Use the Find My Phone app on another device, or a web browser to remotely connect and play a sound on your Android device.
  • You can also use a smart home assistant, and ask it to find your device. Further, you can use your Wear OS smartwatch to find your Android device.
  • Download an app called Clap to Find Your Phone, that plays a loud sound on your Android device when it detects a clap or a whistle.

Method 1: Use the Find My Device App on Another Phone

If you have enabled Find My Device on your Android phone, you can play a sound to find it using another phone when it is in silent mode.

Step 1: Download and open the Find My Device app on another phone. Tap on Sign in as Guest.

Step 2: Use the Google Account logged in to the device you are trying to find.

Step 3: Once logged in to the app, tap Play Sound. This will play a sound on the device that helps you find it.

Method 2: Use the Find My Device App on the Web

If you can’t access another device, you can use Find My Device on a web browser. Log in with the Google Account present on the device you’re trying to find. Once you log in, select the device and Play Sound to find it.

Method 3: Use Your Smartwatch

On a WearOS smartwatch, you can use the Find My Phone app to find the paired Android device. Open the app from the app drawer, and tap on Start to play a sound on your Android device.

Method 4: Use a Digital Home Assistant

If you’re using a Google Home device, use the command ‘Hey Google, Find my Phone’ to help you find your phone.

If you’re using an Alexa, you can use the skill called Phone Finder, and use the command “Alexa, open Phone Finder and search for my phone” whenever you want to find it.

Method 5: Use a Third Party App

Clap to Find Your Phone is an app that plays a loud sound on your Android device when you clap or blow a whistle. Fun fact – the app works without an internet connection, meaning you can activate a sound on your Android device when it isn’t connected to the internet.

Download the app, and activate the feature. You can simply clap to play a sound on your device, and when you find it, use the deactivate button to stop playing the sound.

You can also select the sound you want to play when the app detects a clap or a whistle.
