Yes, Whatsapp lets you know if someone has viewed your status. However, there’s a catch to this. You can’t see the names of everyone who has viewed your status. Why? Because, the feature works in conjunction with the app’s read receipts (yeah, those dreaded blue ticks).

So,

• You can’t see who’s viewed your WhatsApp status if your read receipts are disabled.
• If a contact has disabled their read receipts, you can’t see their view on your status.
• Likewise, if you see someone’s status while your read receipts are disabled, they can’t see that you’ve viewed it.

How to See Who Viewed My WhatsApp Status

Note: The process is the same for iOS, Android, Desktop apps, and WhatsApp Web.

Step 1: Open WhatsApp. Go to the Updates tab.

Step 2: Tap My status. On the next page, select the status.

Step 3: Tap the eye icon or swipe up. Here, you’ll see who viewed your status and how long ago.

Control Who Can See Your WhatsApp Status

By default, those who have your number saved in their phone’s contact book will be able to see your WhatsApp status. But that’s not all. You also need to have their numbers saved in your contact book as well.

Additionally, you can select the audience of your WhatsApp Status. To do so, go to Settings > Privacy > Status. Here, you get three options:

• My contacts
• My contacts except
• Only share with

As suggestive of the name, the first option lets all your contacts see your status. Whereas, with the second option you can bar a few of your non-favorites from seeing what’s happening in your life.

And the third option is a tad similar to Instagram’s Close Friends feature since it only shares your status with your favorite people. Apart from this, there are other ways to stop someone from viewing your status, like blocking someone.
