Whether you’re planning meetings or keeping track of personal to-dos, Copilot simplifies scheduling with natural language commands. Here’s how to use it efficiently for both reminders and calendar events.
Setting Reminders With Copilot
Reminders help track tasks that need to be done but don’t require a specific time slot. They’re ideal for short-term goals, to-dos, or errands. Use Copilot to create them without opening an app or typing into a task list manually.
Step 1: Open Copilot from the Taskbar.

Step 2: Use natural language to set the reminder. For example, ‘Remind me to go shopping on Saturday’.

Step 3: Confirm the details.
If you want to change any details, you can manage your reminders by asking Copilot.
Setting Calendar Events With Copilot
Calendar events are time-specific and used for meetings, appointments, or fixed commitments. Copilot allows you to quickly block time on your calendar without opening Outlook or another calendar app. It’s especially helpful for scheduling on the go.
Step 1: Open Copilot on your device.
Step 2: Ask Copilot to add an event using natural language. For instance, ‘Set an event this Tuesday for Sarah’s birthday party’.

Step 3: Copilot will ask to confirm the time, duration, location, and invitees.

Step 4: Check the details then approve the event.
Events can be edited through your calendar or by re-opening them via Copilot.
Customizing Reminders and Calendar Events
Copilot supports several customization features to make your tasks and events more useful and visually organized.
Use Colors and Categories
You can assign colors to different events to easily check your schedule. Through Copilot or directly in the Outlook or Microsoft To Do app, you can add categories to your events.

Set Recurring Tasks or Events
To set recurring schedules, make sure you ask Copilot to ‘repeat’ a task on set days or set it ‘daily/monthly’. Copilot can also recognize repeat patterns and configure them automatically.

Add Priority Tags and Notes
For reminders, you can add priority labels, depending on how important something is. You can also include notes or links directly in the event or task for quick reference.

Who Would Benefit From Copilot
Professionals: Copilot can be used to schedule meetings, follow-ups, and project milestones. By using natural language scheduling and its integration with Outlook, Copilot has the ability to add invitees and meeting links.
Students: Copilot can help keep track of assignments, exams, and study sessions. It can set reminders with deadlines, recurring study events, and category tagging for different subjects.
Remote Workers: Copilot can manage client calls, deliverables, and time-blocking. It’s features such as easy creation of recurring tasks and time-specific calendar blocking integrate well with Microsoft 365. Personal Users: Copilot can be used to organize errands, family events, and personal goals. Since it can be used with simple commands and color coding for easy visual sorting, it’s helpful to track repeat events, like chores.
