WhatsApp is late to add stickers support. However, even with all the time in the world, the implementation has been average from WhatsApp. There are no stickers suggestions from emojis, they are not interactive and lack the fun element that Telegram provides. If you also feel the same, you should remove sticker packs from WhatsApp. Here’s how to do it.
If you are not careful, you might end up with dozens of sticker packs on WhatsApp. In that case, finding the relevant sticker during a conversation can be a tiring experience. Let’s remove some unnecessary stickers packs from WhatsApp, shall we?
WhatsApp for iPhone and iPad
WhatsApp follows the OS guidelines on each platform. Meaning, the iPhone and Android apps use a different interface. First, we will talk about the iPhone app and then move to the WhatsApp Android app.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on iPhone.
Step 2: Tap on any conversation.
Step 3: In the message box, tap on the Sticker icon.
Step 4: It will open your frequently used stickers. Tap on the + icon at the upper right corner.
Step 5: WhatsApp will open the Stickers menu with all stickers.
Step 6: Move to the My Stickers tab.
Step 7: Tap on the Edit button at the top.
Step 8: Tap on the red minus icon and delete it from WhatsApp.
Unlike Telegram, there is no way to archive a sticker pack in WhatsApp. The action will completely remove stickers from the WhatsApp account.
WhatsApp for Android
WhatsApp for Android uses a material design that’s standard for native Android apps. Follow the steps below to remove stickers packs from the WhatsApp Android app.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on Android.
Step 2: Go to any conversation and tap on the emoji icon in the message menu.
Step 3: Select the sticker icon in the conversation.
Step 4: Tap on the + icon at the top.
Step 5: Go to My Stickers from the following menu.
Step 6: Tap on the delete icon and remove the sticker pack from WhatsApp.
From the same menu, you can arrange sticker packs by appropriately reordering them.
Once again, WhatsApp lags behind Telegram in terms of implementation. There is no dedicated sticker menu in the Settings to manage sticker packs in the app.
Can I Remove Sticker Packs From WhatsApp for Desktop
While WhatsApp has done a commendable job to bring major mobile features to the desktop version, we can’t say the same about stickers.
While you can use stickers packs on WhatsApp desktop apps, you can’t reorder or delete them from the big screen.
Once again, rivals like Telegram and Signal beat WhatsApp here. We constantly bring up the competition because WhatsApp, being the biggest IM app out there, can do a better job at basics than their rivals. We hope to see better efforts from WhatsApp here.
Remove Recent Stickers on iPhone
Some users want to delete WhatsApp sticker packs to remove those embarrassing recent stickers from WhatsApp.
Instead of removing the whole sticker pack, you can remove stickers from the recent menu. Here’s how to do it on iPhone.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp and go to any conversation.
Step 2: Tap on the sticker icon and it will open your recently used stickers in WhatsApp.
Step 3: Long-press on a sticker that you want to remove and select Remove From Recents options.
Repeat the same steps for every sticker that you want to remove from the recent menu. Unfortunately, there is no single way to remove all stickers from the same menu.
Remove Recent Stickers from WhatsApp on Android
You can remove recent stickers from WhatsApp Android as well. Here’s what you need to do on Android.
Step 1: Tap on any conversation in the WhatsApp app on Android.
Step 2: Tap on the emoji icon and move to the stickers menu.
Step 3: Long-tap on any sticker and select remove sticker from the menu.
Once you use another sticker from a sticker pack, it will be added to the recent menu.
Delete Sticker Packs from WhatsApp
You can always download third-party sticker packs from the web. But don’t go overboard with it. And if you feel you have had enough of stickers in WhatsApp, use the steps above and remove irrelevant ones from the app.
