2 Ways to Fix the Telegram App Crashing on Windows 11

Quick Fixes
  • Repair or reset the Telegram Desktop app from Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Telegram Desktop > Advanced options.
  • Update the Telegram Desktop app manually from the Microsoft Store or reinstall it.

Basic Fixes

  • Check the Telegram server status: Visit Downdetector to check for an active Telegram server outage.
  • Quit the Telegram Desktop app and reopen it: Press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc shortcut to open the Task Manager, right-click Telegram Desktop, and select End task. Reopen the Telegram Desktop app.
  • Disconnect VPN: Open your VPN app and click Disconnect to disable the active connection. Retry opening the Telegram app.
  • Update Windows 11: Press the Windows + I shortcut to open Settings, select Windows Update from the left sidebar, and install available system updates.

If you haven’t updated the Telegram Desktop app for a long time, it may crash due to an obsolete version. Head to the Microsoft Store to update it. Alternatively, you can reinstall it to start afresh.
