4 Best Mirror Dash Cams for Cars

A mirror dash cam is a rearview mirror and dash cam rolled into one. These sleek devices offer nifty features like GPS, night vision, and an intuitive touchscreen surface. In this post, we have compiled a list of the best rearview mirror cameras you can buy.

Pelsee P12 Pro 4K: Best Value for Money

Pelsee P12 Pro 4K

The Pelsee P12 Pro is one of the most affordable dash cams. Despite being affordable, it packs a punch. It comprises two cameras (front-facing and rear-facing) and a GPS antenna. This 4K mirror dash cam captures crisp and blur-free videos.

That said, it’s not a complete replacement for your rearview mirror, and you will have to mount it on top of your car’s existing rearview mirror with straps. Coming to the meat of the matter, the picture quality is excellent. The high-resolution feed ensures that minor details are easily visible. However, the night vision is a little lacking.

What We Like

  • Comes with an external GPS
  • 4K resolution
  • Easy to install

What We Don’t Like

  • GPS accuracy is not precise
  • Mounts on top of existing rear view mirror

WOLFBOX G840S: Best Overall

WOLFBOX G840S mirror dash cam

The main highlight of the WOLFBOX G840S is its clear and crisp picture quality. It offers a healthy mix of features, including Parking Assist, GPS, G-Sensor, and Loop Recording. The G840S mirror dash cam comes with a 32GB TF card.

The WOLFBOX G840S features a Sony IMX335 Sensor, which paves the way for clear and detailed videos. The same can be said for nighttime videos, too. If anything, the device cannot overturn 4K clips, and you will have to contend with Full HD videos from the rear camera. Again, the installation process is manageable, and you should be able to do so in less than an hour.

What We Like

  • Clear and crisp video quality
  • Easy to install
  • Quality night vision
  • Aggressive price

What We Don’t Like

  • Limited to FHD videos

Vantrue M2: Best for Accuracy

Vantrue M2 2.5K Mirror Dash Cam for Car

The Vantrue M2 works on the same principle as the WOLFBOX G840S dash cam. Here, too, the mirror doubles up as a touchscreen when needed. And when you engage the reverse gear, it acts as a reverse camera. Interestingly, the touchscreen also displays guidelines to help you easily reverse the car.

The M2’s 1440p resolution and HDR support ensure you can see recorded footage in all its glory. The video quality is crisp, with essential details like license plate numbers superbly visible. The installation is easy and straightforward. It’s worth noting that the front camera charges via a mini-USB port, while the dash cam is powered via the 12V lighter socket (and not through the USB port).

What We Like

  • Accurate GPS
  • 1440p resolution
  • Crisp video
  • Reverse guidelines

What We Don’t Like

  • Charges via a microUSB port
  • GPS module has to be manually attached

AUTO-VOX V5PRO: Best Full Replacement Rear View

AUTO-VOX V5PRO OEM Look Rear View Mirror Camera with Neat Wiring

The Auto-Vox V5 Pro mirror dash cam is a little more expensive than its peers above. It’s a complete replacement for your car’s rearview mirror and connects directly to your car’s fuse box. It also has a decent set of features, including a rear-facing camera, dedicated GPS antenna, and continuous recording.

The latter means that the Auto-Vox mirror dash cam doubles as an excellent parking camera. The video quality is excellent, and the 1080p footage is void of pixelation and blurry effects. However, the dash cam’s night vision works best when some external light assists it. Note that this Auto-Vox dash cam doesn’t come with an SD card, and you will have to source one yourself.

What We Like

  • Excellent footage
  • Complete replacement
  • Connects directly to car’s fuse box
  • Continuous recording

What We Don’t Like

  • Doesn’t come with an SD card
