The CRG5 packs an aesthetically pleasing design. While you won’t get fancy features like RGB lighting, it manages to do things just right. The bezels are on the slimmer end, which adds to its looks. The best part is that the display curvature of 1500R gives off an illusion of a bigger screen. Cool, right?
At its heart, the CRG5 is an FHD monitor set on a VA panel. While you may not get the amazing viewing angles of an IPS panel, it manages to deliver a rich picture quality. The contrast ratio is also on the higher end (3000:1), implying dark black and apt-shadows. You will need to calibrate the colors to find the right balance since the out-of-the-box color calibrations are a little bit off.
Connectivity-wise, things are satisfying. This is a dual HDMI monitor and comes with HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 ports.

This is purely a gaming monitor and might not be that effective for casual work or browsing the internet, thanks to the deep curvature, which results in slight distortion.

For example, you get an FHD resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. And, it supports both AMD’s FreeSync and NVIDIA’s G-Sync for a smooth gaming experience.
Again, the G-SYNC support means you will enjoy a much smoother performance when gaming. However, note that when the refresh rate drops below 48fps, the brightness my flicker a bit, as few users reported. On the upside, this has only happened with few monitors and is not a widespread issue.
Considering that it’s a budget gaming monitor, the connectivity options are a tad on the leaner side. You will find options for only an HDMI 1.4 connector and a DisplayPort 1.2 port, apart from a DVI port.
While the picture quality is decent, it’s worth remembering that it’s a TN panel, and TN panels don’t perform as well in the color department compared to VA or IPS displays. That said, you may have to tweak the color a bit to suit your needs.
Do note that this one is not as versatile as the ones above, for it has a lower PPI (~91) which causes text and icons to appear a bit hazy and unclear.
Game Away
If your gaming rig has an NVIDIA graphics card, it makes all the more sense to buy a monitor with G-Sync support. While G-Sync Ultimate grade monitors seem to be the ideal candidate, they are a little on the pricier side. Thankfully, few options in the market walk the line between premium and budget.
