How to View and Delete YouTube Music History

YouTube Music is Google’s music streaming service, and it is often hailed for its excellent music recommendation algorithm. If you can vouch for that as well, you would have certainly discovered new music on the app. However, if you missed saving any of these songs and now, forgot their names, we’ll show you how to view your YouTube Music history and even delete it.

Further, we’ll also show you how to save a song from your history onto a playlist. However, if you do not like the idea of your history being saved, you can either pause it or delete your listening activity on YouTube Music.

Access Your Recently Played Songs on YouTube Music

Here’s how you can check your recently played songs on YouTube Music. Let’s begin with the procedure for the web application on Windows and Mac.

View Recently Played on YouTube Music Web

Step 1: Open YouTube Music on your web browser.

Step 2: Click on Library in the sidebar.

Step 3: Click on the history icon in the top-right corner.

You can now view your listening history in this window.

If you want to save it to a playlist, click on the three dots icon next to the song you want and click on ‘Add to playlist’. Next, select the playlist you want to add it to.

Find Last Song Played on YouTube Music App

Step 1: Open YouTube Music and tap on your profile icon in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Tap on History.

You can view your history. If you want to save a song to a playlist, you can tap on the three dots icon and select ‘Add to Playlist’.

Clear a Song From YouTube Music History

If you want to remove a song from your YouTube Music history, here’s how you can do it.

On Web Browser

Step 1: Open YouTube Music on your web browser.

Step 2: Click on Library in the sidebar.

Step 3: Click on the history icon in the top-right corner.

Step 4: Click on the three dots icon and select ‘Remove from history’.

This removed the song from the list of songs that you have played on YouTube Music.

On iPhone and Android

Step 1: Open the YouTube Music app and tap on your profile icon in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Tap on History.

Step 3: Tap on the three dots icon next to the song you want to remove from history.

Step 4: Tap on ‘Remove from history’.

You can also consider deleting all of your listening history at once. However, if you want to retain your activity, you can pause recording your history on YouTube Music.

How to Pause YouTube Music History

Here’s how you can pause your YouTube Music history. Once you turn on this toggle, any future listening activity will not be saved. However, note that this toggle also applies to the changes for YouTube (video app) as well.

On Web

Step 1: Open YouTube Music on any browser and click on your profile icon in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Click on Settings.

Step 3: Click on Privacy. Turn on the toggle for ‘Pause watch history’.

You can also pause your search history to stop recording whatever you search on YouTube Music.

On iPhone and Android App

Step 1: Open YouTube Music and tap on your profile icon in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Tap on Settings.

Step 3: Tap on ‘Privacy and location’.

Step 4: Turn on the toggle for ‘Pause watch history’.

Tip: You can also pause the search history to stop your search queries on YouTube from being recorded. Note that the above settings apply to YouTube Music and YouTube Video app.

Clear Your YouTube Music History

Here’s how you can clear all your YouTube Music activity at once. Note that the actions will apply to YouTube Music and the YouTube video app.

On Web

Step 1: Open YouTube Music on any browser and click on your profile icon in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Click on Settings.

Step 3: Click on Privacy from the sidebar and select ‘Clear watch history’.

Step 4: Confirm by tapping on ‘Clear Watch History’.

Step 5: You can also clear your search history by tapping on ‘Clear search history’.

Step 6: Click on ‘Clear Search History to Confirm’.

On iPhone and Android

Step 1: Open YouTube Music and tap on your profile icon in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Tap on Settings.

Step 3: Tap on ‘Privacy and location’.

Step 4: Tap on ‘Manage watch history’.

Step 5: Tap on the drop-down menu under delete and select the relevant option – whether you want to delete for a specific time range or delete all your history.

Step 6: Tap on Delete to confirm.
