It’s inexpensive and one of the main highlights of this inkjet printer is its use of Photo Black ink that enhances the black areas in photos. For now, the XP-6100 prints borderless colored photos. More importantly, the Canon Selphy CP1500 is inexpensive and much less than its counterparts on this list. At the same time, it’s portable and can be easily carried around. It needs continuous power. However, that issue can be solved by opting for a battery pack (bought separately).
Let’s address the elephant in the room — connectivity options on such a small photo printer. It packs a USB 2.0 port, USB-C port, and slots for SD and microSD flash cards. Secondly, you can always use wireless connectivity options and print photos from your iPhone and Android devices. And yes, it supports AirPrint.

3. HP Envy Photo 7855 All-in-One Photo Printer
The HP Envy Photo 7855 addresses a major shortcoming—it comes with an automatic document feeder (ADF), which means you need not manually load the paper tray for scan or copy. It is also capable of auto-duplex and supports HP’s e-print, and third-party mobile connectivity options. The Envy Photo 7855 works with black and multi-color inks.
The print quality is good for normal prints as well as photo prints. Text on the former appears sharp, while photos are above average for the price. The colors in photos are saturated and vivid, and the dark (or black) parts do not have any banding.
The HP Envy Photo 7855 is decently fast and has a speed of around 15ppm for normal printing. But, printing photos will take additional time.
Nevertheless, it counts itself among the printers that support SD cards and USB ports. As such, you can easily print photos from a card or flash drive. Plus, the ePrint support eases the printing process since it lets you send files and email attachments to be printed.
You can either connect it via Wi-Fi or opt for wired connectivity. It’s not without issues though. Even though it comes with ADF mode, it still doesn’t automatically scan two-sided documents.

4. Epson Expression Photo XP-8600
Another photo printer with a memory card reader is the Epson XP-8600. The XP-8600 is a small and compact printer that churns out detailed and vivid photos. It uses a six-ink system, which plays a part in making the photos natural and color accurate. Unlike the one above, this printer doesn’t have an ADF.
It is good at delivering regular prints as well as graphics. The prints are sharp, and the lines appear clear and precise.
Though the XP-8600 delivers quality photos, it isn’t the fastest printer around. The time for regular black prints is around 9.5 ppm, while image-heavy pages can go up to 4 ppm.
Connectivity options are similar to the printers above. You get the options for both wired and wireless connectivity. Regularly printing on a six-ink printer will be a bit costlier compared to its two-ink-based peers.
