How to Use AI Tools in Canva on Mobile and Desktop

Canva is an excellent choice to make a creative or edit an image quickly. You can use Canva’s cool editing features to edit an image or create a new one from scratch. And to simplify your design workflow, Canva has introduced new AI-powered design tools to compete with editing software like Adobe Photoshop.

In this post, we will show you how to use such AI-powered editing tools in Canva on your Mobile and Desktop. Do note that these tools are only available for Canva Pro, Canva for Education, Canva for Teams, and Canva for Nonprofit users. 

How to Use Magic Eraser in Canva on Mobile and Desktop

Magic Eraser is one of the AI photo editing tools available in Canva. You can use this AI editing tool to remove unwanted objects from your photos. For example, you can remove people from the background in your beach photos or objects in the background while clicking your favorite coffee at a café. You can even remove the tiniest unwanted objects by using Magic Eraser. Let us show you how.

On Mobile

Step 1: Open the Canva app on your iPhone or Android.

Step 2: Start a new design or open an existing one.

Step 3: Keep the image selected and tap on Effects at the bottom Menu Bar.

Step 4: In Tools, select Magic Eraser at the bottom.

Step 5: Select the Brush Size and brush over the image portion that you want to remove.

You will notice that the brushed-off area will be removed by Magic Eraser. We selected the beach benches in the middle.

You can also choose to Reset Erasing the area in your image and repeat the steps mentioned above.

Step 6: After that, tap the Share icon at the top-right corner to save your image.

On Desktop

Step 1: Open the Canva app on your Mac or Windows PC.

Step 2: Start a new design or open an existing one.

Step 3: Keep the image select and click on Edit Photo at the top Menu Bar.

Step 4: Click on Magic Eraser at the top-left menu.

Step 5: Select the brush size and draw on the portion of your image that you want to remove.

Step 6: After you remove the selected portion, click on Share at the top-right corner.

You can also choose to Reset Erasing at the bottom-left corner and repeat the same steps mentioned above.

How to Use Magic Edit in Canva on Mobile and Desktop

What if you could select and replace a particular object with something else in your image? This is the function of Magic Edit, the next feature in the list of AI tools to create your designs in Canva. Here’s how it works.

On Mobile

Step 1: Open the Canva app on your iPhone or Android phone.

Step 2: Start a new design or open an existing one.

Step 3: Keep the image selected and tap on Effects at the bottom Menu Bar.

Step 4: In Tools, select Magic Edit at the bottom.

You cannot use Magic Edit and Magic Eraser at the same time in the same image.

Step 5: Select the brush size and brush over the object or portion that you want to replace.

Step 6: Tap on Continue at the bottom-right corner.

Step 7: Describe what you want to generate using AI and tap on Generate at the bottom.

You will receive a few AI suggestions. Select the one that you prefer or tap on Generate New Results.

Step 8: Tap on Done to confirm your selection.

Step 9: After that, tap on Share at the top-right corner to save your design.

On Desktop

Step 1: Open the Canva app on your Mac or Windows PC.

Step 2: Select the image in your design and click on Edit Photo on the top Menu Bar.

Step 3: Click on Magic Edit at the top-left menu.

Step 4: Select the brush size and brush over the object or portion that you want to replace.

Step 5: Click on Continue on the left side.

Step 6: Type your input to replace the selected portion and click on Generate.

Step 7: Select the result that you are most satisfied with or click on Generate New Results to get new results.

Step 8: Click on Done at the bottom to confirm.

How to Use Auto-Adjust in Canva on Mobile and Desktop

Another new feature in the list of AI photo editing tools is Auto-Adjust. Selecting this will give you the best editing result depending on your image. You won’t have to manually adjust parameters like brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature, and tint for your image. Here’s how to use it.

On Mobile

Step 1: Open your design in the Canva app on your iPhone or Android.

Step 2: Select the image and tap on Adjust at the bottom.

Step 3: Tap on Auto-Adjust at the bottom.

You can change the intensity of the edit by using the slider at the bottom.

You can also choose to manually adjust the temperature, contrast, tint, and more for the foreground and background of your image.

Step 4: Tap the Share icon at the top-right corner to save your design.

On Desktop

Step 1: Open the Canva app on your Mac or Windows PC.

Step 2: Select the image in your design and click on Edit Photo on the top Menu Bar.

Step 3: Click on Adjust from the top left side.

Step 4: Click on Auto-Adjust on the top left side.

You can change the intensity of the edit by using the slider at the bottom.

You can also manually adjust the temperature, contrast, tint, and more.

You can select the area of your image to edit it.

Step 5: After that, click on Share at the top-right corner to save your design.
