How to Share Google One Storage Plan With Family on Mobile and Desktop

Google One is an integrated cloud storage plan which you can subscribe to for storing your data. You get 15GB of cloud storage on your Google account. But you can upgrade to Google One with cloud storage of up to 2TB if needed.

The good part is that your family members do not have to subscribe individually to Google One. You can share your Google Drive storage from your account with your family members. We’ll show the steps to share your Google One storage plan with your family on mobile and desktop.

Add Family Members to Google One Using Desktop

Let’s check out the steps to share your Google One cloud storage with your family. You can add 5 of your family members even with the entry-level 100GB plan of Google One. Also, ensure that they are above 13 years of age.

Here’s how to use this feature and share your cloud storage.

Step 1: Visit the Google One website in a web browser on your computer.

Step 2: Sign in with your Google account.

Step 3: Scroll down and click on View Details under Storage and More.

Step 4: Click on ‘Go to Family Settings’ on the right side.

Step 5: Click on Manage button next to Manage Family Settings.

Step 6: Select ‘Create a Family Group.’

Step 7: Click on Confirm button to assign yourself as the Family Manager.

Step 8: Type the names or email addresses of your family members and click on Send.

Your family members will receive the invite notification to share the Google One cloud storage. They get 15 days to respond to the invite.

After they accept the invite, you will see their name appearing on the list of your family members in your Google account.

Step 9: Go back and click the toggle next to ‘Share Google One with Family’ to enable the feature.

To turn off Google One Family Sharing, click the toggle again to disable the feature.

How to Remove Family Member from Google Account

At times, some family members end up stuffing too much data into your shared Google One storage and might not use those files. You can remove such inactive members. If you want to remove a family member to prevent sharing your Google One account, here’s how.

Step 1: Open the Google Account page in a web browser.

Step 2: Click on People & Sharing from the left sidebar.

Step 3: Select ‘Manage Your Family Group.’

Step 4: Click the name of your family member who you wish to remove.

Step 5: Click on Remove Member button.

Step 6: Sign in to your Google account again and click on Remove again to confirm.

Add Family Members to Google One Using Mobile

If you are using the official Google One app on your iPhone or Android, here’s how to share your storage with your family members.

Step 1: Open the Google One app on your iPhone or Android.

Step 2: Tap the hamburger menu icon at the top-left corner.

Step 3: Select Settings.

Step 4: Select Family Settings.

Step 5: Enable the toggle next to ‘Share Google One with Family.’

Step 6: Tap on ‘Manage Google Family Members.’

Step 7: Tap on Send Invitations.

Step 8: Type the name or email address of your family member and click on Send.

Your family members will now receive the notification of being invited by you to share the Google One cloud storage. They have 15 days to respond to the invite.

Once they have responded, you will see their name added to the list of your family members in your Google account.

Share Google One Storage with Family

Using this feature lets you save money on buying extra subscriptions for cloud storage. You can also add additional storage by upgrading your Google One account.
