How to Leave a Discord Server From Desktop and Mobile App

Discord is a great platform to communicate and build a community of people with similar interests. You can join various servers and chat rooms to interact and share your thoughts. However, sometimes, you may want to leave a server you created or joined for several reasons. If you are in that position, this article will guide you on how to leave a Discord server quickly and efficiently.

How to Leave a Discord Server

It doesn’t matter if you have created a server or are participating in someone else’s. It is pretty easy to get yourself removed from any server on Discord. Let’s begin with leaving a server you created.

How to Leave a Discord Server You Created

Creating a Discord server may be easy, but building the user base is a task. There are several reasons to leave the server you created. One of the common reasons is simply losing interest in the topic or community the server is based on, or you may want to take a break. For whatever reason, follow the below methods to get rid of it.

1. Delete a Discord Server You Created

The steps are quite similar on both Windows and Mac. However, we will demonstrate this on Windows. You can also check our detailed guide to understand how to delete a Discord server.

If you don’t want to delete the server but instead want to leave while keeping the community alive, move to the next method.

2. Leave Your Discord Server

When you create a Discord server, you become the super-admin/owner of the server, meaning you have all the rights to manage the server on your terms.

If you wish to leave, you can either delete the community directly (as discussed in the above method) or transfer Discord server ownership and remove yourself, keeping the community alive. Here’s how to go about it.
