Hide Instagram Likes and View Counts on iPhone and Android
Though Instagram is a great tool of expression and communication, we have to agree that social media can sometimes take a toll on our mental health. Sometimes we get concerned about the number of likes on our posts. To curb such possible bad outcomes, social media platforms are introducing features to help users keep their mental health in check.
YouTube recently did this by removing the number of dislikes from being visible publically. Similarly, Instagram also introduced the option to hide likes and view counts from user profile.
Here’s how you can hide likes and view counts on the mobile app. We are using an iPhone. But these steps are also applicable to Android users. Please ensure that you are using the latest version of Instagram.
Step 1: Open the Instagram app.
Step 2: Tap on the Plus icon at the top right.
Step 3: Tap on Post to add a new post.
Step 4: Select the photo and filter as per your choice.
Step 5: Before sharing the post, tap on Advanced Settings at the bottom.
Step 6: Tap on Hide Like and View Counts on this post to enable it.
You can use the same way to hide like and view counts on every fresh post. Please note that you cannot do this for previously published posts.
Hide Like and View Counts on posts from other accounts on Mobile
Follow these steps if you wish to hide the like and view counts from posts you see from other accounts.
Step 1: Open the Instagram app.
Step 2: Tap on the profile icon at the bottom.
Step 3: Tap the Hamburger Menu at the top-right side of your profile page.
Step 4: From the popup menu, select Settings.
Step 5: Select Privacy from the list of options.
Step 6: Tap on Posts.
Step 7: Enable the option of Hide Like and Video Counts by a tap on the toggle.
Now you will not see the like and view counts on any post on your Instagram feed.
Hide Instagram Likes and View Counts on Desktop
Instagram now allows users to post photos and videos on their profile directly from their desktop. If you prefer viewing Instagram from the comfort of your laptop or desktop, you can access this feature from the Instagram web page as well. Make sure the internet connection speed on your computer is consistent.
Follow these steps.
Step 1: Open Instagram site on your browser.
Step 2: Login to your profile. Once the homepage opens on your screen, click the Plus icon at the top-right menu bar.
Step 3: Select the photo you want to post and click Next.
Step 4: Before publishing the post, click on Advanced Settings at the bottom.
Step 6: Enable the toggle alongside Hide Like and View Counts on this post.
Hide Like and View Counts on posts from other accounts on Desktop
Desktop users can also hide like and view counts on posts appearing in their feed. Follow these steps.
Step 1: Tap on your profile icon at the top right corner.
Step 2: Click Settings.
Step 3: On the Settings page, click on Privacy and Security from the left menu.
Step 4: Scroll down and look for Posts section.
Step 5: Tap the toggle alongside Hide Likes and View Counts.
The Likes and View Counts will not be visible for the posts you see on your feed.
Hide Likes and View Counts on Instagram
This is how you can hide likes and view counts while using Instagram. One should try to limit the usage of social media apps. You can keep a check and manage your screen time for an individual in the Settings menu on your phone. This feature is also available for Mac users.
