Snapchat has emojis for almost every feature. And unless you change them, they remain constant for all Snapchatters. These include the two pink hearts for your Super BFF, a pin emoji for your pinned conversations, the fire emoji for your Streaks, and more. But what are Snapchat Streaks? And can you get Snapchat Streaks back? Keep reading to know.
As the name suggests, Snapchat Streaks signify the constant interaction between you and your friend on Snapchat. Once the two of you have sent each other Snaps for 3 consecutive days, a flame emoji will appear along with the number of days, signifying your Streak with your friend.
But what happens when you miss a day? Can you get a Snapchat Streak back? Let’s find out.
Why Did You Lose Your Snapchat Streak
While Snapchat allows you to send texts, Snaps from Memories or Snapchat Spectacles, etc., only the Snaps, pictures, and videos taken from the Snapchat app count towards your Snapchat Streak. These need to be one-on-one and not in a Snapchat group chat.
And as you keep up, the number of days in front of your Streak also changes. Additionally, this interaction needs to be two-way. You can view your Streaks from the Chats window. Here’s how.
View Your Snapchat Streaks
Step 1: Open the Snapchat mobile app.
Step 2: Here, tap on the Chat icon at the bottom.
Step 3: Now, check the Streak icon and the number of days.
However, if you and your friend don’t send and open each other’s Snaps every 24 hours, your Snapstreak will be lost. But before we discuss how to recover a Snapstreak, let us look at a few things you should consider before starting the Snapchat Streak recovery process.
Things to Know Before Restoring Your Snapchat Streak
While there is no guarantee that you will get your Snapchat Streak back, there are a few things you need to know and a few factors that may help influence this final decision. Let us look at them.
- Before your Streak is set to expire, an hourglass emoji will be visible. If you and your friend send and open each other’s Snaps before this emoji disappears, you can keep your Streak.
- You can only restore one Streak at a time. Currently, there is no bulk restore option available for Streaks.
- As of writing this guide, you can restore your Snapchat Streak only if the Restore option is available. This option is exclusive to the Snapchat mobile app.
- Unless this is due to an app glitch, Snapchat support will not be able to get your Snapstreak back once the Restore option disappears.
With that out of the way, let us move on to the steps for getting your Snapstreak back.
How to Get Your Lost Snapstreak on Snapchat
Now that we know more about Snapchat Streak and why it is lost, let’s look at all the ways you can use to restore your Streak.
1. Using the Restore Button
Snapchat recently added the Restore button to help save your Streaks. However, use it cautiously as you only restore one Streak for free, regardless of which friend you use it for. After this, you must pay a nominal fee (around 0.99$) per Streak restore. To use this option, go to the Chats window and tap on Restore.
If this is not your first restore, finish the payment for your order. Once done, Snapchat will restore your Streak. If you wish to recover any other Streak, you must tap on the Restore option individually. However, be quick, as this option is only available for a limited time.
2. Contacting Snapchat Support Team
If you feel you lost Streak due to technical glitches of software and not because of a missed Snap day, you can directly contact Snapchat’s support team and report this issue to them. Make sure to do this at the earliest. They will then suggest possible remedies to this issue.
Follow the below steps to do it.
Step 1: Open Snapchat and tap on your profile icon.
Step 2: Here, tap on the cogwheel icon.
Step 3: Scroll down and tap on ‘I Need Help’.
Tip: You can also use the ‘I’ve lost my Snapstreak’ option if you have any queries regarding the Streak Restore option.
Step 4: Now, tap on Contact Us.
Once the contact form opens, describe your issue in as much detail as possible for a quick resolution.
3. Sending Snaps to Your Friends
Once a Snapstreak is lost, the number of days will reset to 0. However, not all is lost. If you and your friend want, you can always start another Streak by sending each other Snaps.
And now that you know more about Snapchat Streaks, send and open each other’s Snaps within the 24-hour window. Once 3 days are up, the Streak emoji will be visible in front of your friend’s name in the Chat window.
