Almost everywhere you go nowadays, you’ll find a way to connect to wi-fi with your iPhone. So usually, you won’t need to worry too much about signing again once you’ve done so once.

But sometimes, our phones disconnect numerous times in a short period. So if you’re trying to watch a Netflix series, catch up with friends or call a family member, this gets annoying fast.

Often, though, the solution to fixing your iPhone’s wi-fi issues isn’t too tricky. Your internet provider might be having a bad day, for example, or you may need to update your phone’s software.

In this article, you’ll discover four ways to fix the issue of your iPhone continually disconnecting from its wi-fi connection.

1. Go in and Out of Airplane Mode

If your internet connection keeps switching on and off, you might consider manually stopping your phone from connecting to it. One way you can do this is by going in and out of airplane mode on your device.

To turn airplane mode, you have two options. Below is the list of steps you need to follow for the first.

Step 1: Unlock your iPhone.

Step 2: Swipe up on the home screen. You will then see the Control Center.

Step 3: In the Control Center, tap on the airplane icon. You might also need to tap on the wi-fi symbol to turn this off.

Step 4: Once airplane mode is on, turn it off again, and your phone should reconnect to the wi-fi.

If you don’t have airplane mode in your Control Center, you can follow the steps below to achieve the same result.

Step 1: Open the Settings app. Under your name, you’ll see the option for airplane mode.

Step 2: Toggle the on/off switch, so that airplane mode is switched on.

Step 3: Turn airplane mode off again by tapping on the same button.

If switching airplane mode on and off doesn’t work, consider turning your phone itself on and off again.

2. Check for Software Updates

Updating your iPhone software is important for numerous reasons. Firstly, doing so ensures that you continue to protect yourself against potential threats – such as hackers. Alongside that, though, your phone will gradually begin to perform worse when you don’t keep it updated.

If your wi-fi keeps disconnecting and there aren’t any issues with your router, it’s a good idea to check your iPhone for any updates you may have missed. To do this, follow the steps listed below.

Step 1: Open the Settings app.

Step 2: Scroll down to General. When you’re there, click on that tab.

Step 3: Near the top of the following page, you’ll see an option titled Software Update. Tap on this.

Step 4: If you need to download the latest software, you’ll see an option to do so. Click on this, and your iPhone will begin updating.

To update your software, you need to be connected to some form of internet. If your mobile plan permits, you can use cellular data. Otherwise, you can do so via iTunes on your Mac – or wait until you have a wi-fi connection somewhere else.

3. Forget Your Wi-Fi and Rejoin

If you find that the wi-fi is working fine on your laptop or games console, the problem likely lies with your iPhone. One potential solution is to forget the network on your mobile device before joining again.

To do this, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open your Settings app again and click on Wi-Fi. This is the option right below Airplane Mode.

4. Check Your Router

In some cases, the internet is the problem. If this is the case, it’s a good idea to check your wireless router.

Before doing anything, check the status on the front of your router. For example, if you notice that the internet isn’t connected or your connection is unstable, turn it off and wait for a little while before switching it on again.

If the problem persists, you’ll need to contact your network provider to find out what’s happening.

Connecting to wi-fi helps to stream videos on your iPhone quicker and save you money by purchasing a smaller data plan.

When the internet keeps disconnecting and connecting again on your phone, try to see if you can fix the issue on your mobile device. If it persists, restart your router.

Since the internet sometimes goes down across a whole area, you may need to be patient until your provider can fix things again.
