Spotify allows its users to curate playlists, upload their songs, podcasts, etc. But when sharing this content, apart from using URLs, you can also create and scan a Spotify Code. Different from traditional QR codes, Spotify Codes are unique to Spotify and, once scanned, can easily help users access the relevant playlist or song. Here’s how to create and scan Spotify Codes using the Spotify desktop and mobile app.
Before creating a Spotify Code for any playlist or song, ensure that it is not set to private. And while you cannot create Spotify Codes for private playlists, you can scan and find a private playlist using the relevant Spotify Code. Additionally, to scan a Spotify Code, you will need to use the Spotify mobile app.
On that note, let us look at how you can create and scan a Spotify Code.

FAQs for Scanning Spotify Codes
Because Spotify uses your device’s back camera to scan a Spotify Code, it becomes difficult to replicate this when using a desktop. This is one of the reasons why the feature to scan Spotify Codes is only available in the Spotify mobile app. If you’re having trouble using this feature on your mobile, you can also go for a compatible tablet and use its camera to scan the Spotify Code.
While they’re not exactly Spotify Codes, you can use certain third-party websites like QR Code Generator and QR Tiger to create sharable QR codes for the relevant Spotify playlist or song. However, be cautious when using any third-party websites and, if possible, try and stick to the Spotify Codes website for creating your Spotify Codes.
Use Spotify Codes
We hope that this article helped you better understand how to create and scan a Spotify Code on any device. And while Spotify Codes help increase the public exposure for the shared playlist or song, there are times when you crave some privacy. When this happens, turn on Spotify’s privacy settings and enjoy some private downtime.
