How to Set Activity Goals on Apple Watch
Usually, when you set up your Apple Watch, it asks you for details like ex., age, height, weight, etc., in addition to your activity level. Accordingly, it sets up the activity rings. However, you can update your fitness goals on Apple Watch to match your current lifestyle choices.
Step 1: Press the Apple Watch crown for the app screen and select Activity app.
Step 2: Swipe up and tap Change Goals.
Step 3: Now, all ring options will show up one by one,
- Move goal – Tap + or – to change the Move goal on your Apple Watch. Once done tap Next.
- Exercise goal – Use + and – to increase and decrease the goal, then tap Next.
- Stand goal – Tap to change your Apple Watch Stand goal and tap Ok to confirm all the changes.
Note: If you update your goals after you have closed the rings for the day, the rings will reset and show as incomplete. Hence, the ideal time to update fitness goals on your Apple Watch or iPhone is after 12 AM or early morning. This will give you enough time to close your rings.

You can also edit exercise goals from your iPhone, to do so,
Step 1: Open the Fitness app → tap the profile picture from the upper-right corner.
Step 2: Here, select Change Goals.
Step 3: Like the Apple Watch, you’ll be shown,
- Move goal – Tap + or – and tap Change Move Goal.
- Exercise goal – Use + and – to adjust to goals and select Change Exercise Goal.
- Stand goal – Change the Stand goal by tapping +/- and tap Change Stand Goal to save the changes.

FAQs Regarding Changing Activity Goals on Apple Watch
Apple offers three rings by default,
– Red ring – It represents your Move goal, i.e., how many active calories have you burnt in the day?
– Green ring – The Exercise goal, tracks how many minutes of brisk activity/workout you’ve done throughout the day.
– Blue ring – The innermost ring represents the Stand goal and shows how many times in the day you’ve stood and moved for at least one minute per hour.
Note: If you use a wheelchair, the blue ring represents the Roll goal, i.e., the time you’ve rolled for at least one minute per hour.
An overlapping activity ring represents that you’ve exceeded your goal for the day.
Open the Activity app on your watch → Use the Digital Crown to scroll to the bottom and tap Weekly Summary. The summary will include the week’s total calories/average calories, steps, distance, flights climbed, and active time.
You can check your activity ring history from your iPhone. Go to the Fitness app → Summary tab → Tap anywhere on the Activity area. Next, tap the Calendar icon from the top and scroll through the history.
