Sometimes, there are a couple of songs on Spotify that get grayed out while using the iPhone or Android app. This can also happen with songs that you have previously listened to without any issues. This post will share some solutions to fix Spotify songs grayed out on iPhone and Android.
1. Regional Restrictions
If you are unsure why are some songs grayed out on Spotify, the biggest possible reason is regional restrictions applied to them. There are always some regional (licensing) restrictions for some songs and that’s why they aren’t released in every region across the globe.
The best option is to use a VPN on your iPhone or Android. There are a lot of VPN apps available for both platforms. If you have a Google One subscription, you can use a VPN on your Google One account.
2. Delete and Add Songs Again to Your Playlist
If the first solution did not work and you want to listen to grayed out or unavailable songs on Spotify, we suggest deleting and adding them to your playlist again. The steps remain the same for iPhone and Android app.
Step 1: Open Spotify on your iPhone or Android.
Step 2: Go to your Library and select your playlist.
Step 3: Tap the three horizontal dots next to the song that appears grayed out.
Step 4: Select Remove From Playlist.
Step 5: Search for the song again and tap the three dots next to its name.
Step 6: Select Add To Playlist.

3. Check Explicit Content Settings
Another major reason why songs become unavailable on Spotify is because of including some explicit language. You can choose note to see any songs or podcasts on Spotify that contain explicit language. But in the case of Spotify songs grayed out, we suggest allowing explicit content and see if that solves the problem.
Step 1: Open Spotify on your iPhone or Android. The steps remain the same for iPhone and Android.
Step 2: Tap on Your Library at the bottom-right corner.
Step 3: Tap on Explicit Content.
Step 4: Tap the toggle next to Allow Explicit Content to enable this feature.
Step 5: Return to your library and check if the grayed out songs are available.
4. Force Quit and Relauch Spotify
If your selected song is still unavailable on Spotify, you can force quit and relaunch the app to give it a fresh start.
Step 1: On the home screen, swipe up and hold to reveal the background app windows.
Step 2: Swipe right to look for the Spotify app. Then swipe up to remove Spotify.
Step 3: Relaunch Spotify and check if the problem is solved.

Step 2: Tap on Force Stop.
Step 3: Select Ok to confirm.
Step 4: Close App Info and open Spotify again to check if the problem is solved.
5. Clear Spotify Cache
