7 Best Ways to Fix Facebook Keeps Logging You Out

Facebook continues to dominate the social media space. Millions of people use the Facebook app to post updates and keep in touch with their virtual friends. However, it can be frustrating if Facebook keeps logging you out while you’re trying to post an update or a comment.

Best Ways to Fix Facebook Keeps Logging You Out

We spend so much time using Facebook, and it is quite likely to encounter such an issue. Whether Facebook is logging you out as a security measure or due to an app glitch, you can troubleshoot and fix that using the solutions in this post.

1. Clear Cache and Cookies

Most websites these days don’t work unless you’ve enabled cookies on your browser. Sometimes this cache and cookies data can pile up and create problems, including the Facebook app logging you out mysteriously. In such cases, clearing those cache and cookies usually helps with such weird anomalies. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete keys on your keyboard to quickly launch the Clear browsing data panel in Chrome or Edge.

Step 2: Under the Basic tab, use the drop-down menu next to Time range to select All time from the list. Now mark the checkboxes that read ‘Cookies and other site data’ and ‘Cached images and files’.

Lastly, click on the Clear data button.

2. Change Facebook Password

The issue can also occur if your Facebook account password is compromised. Someone else may also be trying to use the same account, which is why Facebook keeps logging you out. When that happens, Facebook recommends you change your account password immediately. Here’s how.

Login to your Facebook account on a web browser and navigate to Facebook’s Settings page. Click on Security & Login from the left pane. Under the Login section on your right, click on the Change Password option.

To avoid such events in the future, you can try securing your Facebook account with two-factor authentication.

3. Use Facebook Auto Login

Auto-login is a useful feature that almost all websites offer. When enabled, it relieves you from entering your login credentials every time you use your account. It might not be the most secure method when using a shared computer, but if you’re the only one using the PC, you can enable it to keep Facebook from logging you out.

4. Remove Third-Party Access

Have you recently linked a third-party app with your Facebook account? If so, then it’s possible that those apps are the reason why Facebook keeps logging you out.

To remove access for these third-party apps from Facebook, log in to your Facebook account in a web browser. Then, open Settings and go to the Apps and Websites tab. Click on the Remove button next to those apps to remove their access.

5. Disable Extensions

Apart from removing third-party access, if you’ve recently installed any new third-party extensions on your browser, the issue could also arise. You can try disabling or removing them momentarily to check if that solves the issue.

To remove extensions in Chrome, type chrome://extensions/ and press Enter. Find any suspicious extensions or ones that you no longer use and click on the Remove button to delete them.

In Microsoft Edge, click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, and go to Extensions to disable extensions.

6. Delete App Cache (Android)

If you’re facing this particular issue in Facebook’s mobile app, then it might be due to a corrupted app cache. And clearing it might be a good idea. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your phone. Go to Apps and notifications. Look for the Facebook app on the list.

7. Update or Reinstall the App

Sometimes, such issues can also arise due to the outdated or buggy Facebook app you’re using. Updating the app usually helps in such situations. Go ahead and update the app by visiting Play Store and App Store.

Alternatively, if the Facebook app has any corrupted data on your phone, you can also reinstall the app. Doing so will remove all the app data associated with the app (including cache) and update the app.

In recent years, Facebook has grown leaps and bounds from being just another social media platform. And for better or worse, it has become almost impossible to leave Facebook.

We hope that the above solutions have helped you solve your login problems for now.
