Acer Nitro 17

Acer’s Nitro range comprises high-performance laptops that won’t break the bank. The company’s Nitro 17, in particular, substantiates our sentiments to a tee. The laptop is backed by AMD’s all-new, Ryzen 7 7735HS platform. The octa-core processor offers 16 threads and a max boost clock of up to 4.75GHz, for those unaware.

Understandably, AMD’s contender is a bit slower than the Core i7-13620H and the Core i7-13700H CPUs, which feature more cores. That’s not to say that the unit can’t hold its own, and you should still be able to get your work done on the machine. Moreover, the HS series of CPUs from AMD boasts superb efficiency. As such, the laptop should also offer you a meaty battery backup.

Moving on, though, the laptop comes with an RTX 4070 GPU with a TGP of 140W. What’s more, the device benefits from a MUX switch as well. In particular, the device is backed by Nvidia’s Advanced Optimus tech, which allows the laptop to switch between the iGPU and the dGPU without rebooting.

The laptop also gets a QHD display that refreshes at 165Hz! Needless to say, Acer has struck the ball out of the ballpark with the Nitro 17. And users agree, too, with most buyers citing that the laptop performs like a champ.

MSI’s Katana 15 is no slouch in the performance department either. For one, the laptop comes with Intel’s Core i7-13620H CPU. The chipset gets 10 cores, including six performance and four efficiency cores. As such, the processor can deploy up to 16 threads for multi-threaded workloads. More notably, the P-cores can turbo up to 4.9GHz, which is excellent.

As for graphics, the laptop ships with an RTX 4070 GPU with a 105W TGP. Although it’s not the beefiest RTX 4070 GPU, the Katana 15 should still be able to play most modern games at competent settings. In fact, per PCMag’s review, the laptop overturned well over 100FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and F1 2021 at the Ultra graphics preset. Rest assured; you should be able to play your favorite games on the laptop seamlessly.

The Katana 15 has a 15.6-inch, Full HD display that refreshes at 144Hz. As such, you can even play high-octane games like Valorant and Apex Legends on the laptop without worrying about screen-tearing. Add to that a bevy of connectors, including a Thunderbolt 4 port and DDR5 memory, and the MSI Katana 15 is right up there with the best RTX 4070 gaming laptops.

3. GIGABYTE AORUS 15

Needless to say, the processor is more than adept at handling CPU-bound workloads, including but not limited to video editing.

That’s not all; the laptop also comes with an RTX 4070 GPU with a TGP of 140W. As such, you should be able to max out the graphics settings on most AAA games easily. In fact, per IGN’s review, the laptop could run games like Hitman 3 and Forza Horizon 5 at well over 100FPS, with the graphics preset maxed out at 1080p resolution.
