One of the best ways to elevate your PC gaming experience is to switch to a proper gaming mouse. But based on the genre of your most frequented game, you will find some gaming mice more suited to your experience. For instance, if you play First Person Shooters or FPS games such as Valorant, Apex Legends, or PUBG; you would benefit from using a gaming mouse designed with FPS games in mind.
The good news is that top brands like Razer, Logitech, and HyperX have multiple options that cater to the needs of fps gamers. These mice, in particular, have an ergonomic design for longer gaming sessions, support for high DPI, programmable buttons, and much more.

1. Logitech G502 X Plus Lightspeed

On that note, the newer toggles are more reliable than the previous mechanical switches. At the same time, they retain the same click and feel so you’ll get a sense of deja vu if you’re coming from a G502 gaming mouse.
Logitech has even improved upon the G502’s battery life with the G502 X. To wit, you will get an improved battery life of 37 hours and that’s with the RGB lights on. Thankfully, you can use the mouse while charging thanks to the USB-C cable that comes with the box. Or you can always buy a Logitech PowerPlay mousepad that wirelessly charges your mouse.
The Logitech G502 X Plus also features the company’s patented infinite scroll wheel and comes in two different colors, namely Black and White. The DPI shift button has also been redesigned to make it comfortable to find and easily switch profiles.
That being said, it’s definitely not the perfect gaming mouse. Unlike the previous generation, the Logitech G502 X Plus no longer features adjustable weights. So if you’re a fan of heavy mice, this might seem too lightweight to you. Additionally, while the infinite scroll wheel is great, in normal mode it makes a lot of clicky sounds, which may not be to your liking.
2. Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro SE

- Weight: 142 grams | Max DPI: 18,000
Contrary to the Logitech G502 X Plus recommended above, the Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro SE is an FPS gaming mouse that’s designed for large hands. Add to that, the unit is quite hefty and tips the scales at 142 grams. The icing on the cake is that you still get a peak DPI of 18,000, which can be adjusted in increments of one, instead of using pre-defined values.
Also, you can use the Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro SE on any Qi wireless charging mousepad, making it more universally appealing. One of the highlights of the mouse is definitely the customizable side grip, which is included in the box. These allow you to adjust the grip of the mouse to your liking and are a godsend for gamers with sweaty palms.
The Dark Core also comes with customizable RGB lights, controlled via Corsair’s iCUE app. One thing to note is that while you can turn all the lights on the body off, the LED for the DPI indicator stays on at all times.
Also, while there is support for profiles and customization inside the iCUE app, the utility isn’t the most reliable. In fact, a lot of users have observed frequent crashes with the software. As such, it would be wise to select your settings and save them to mouse’ onboard memory.
3. ROCCAT Burst Pro Air Lightweight Gaming Mouse
- Connectivity: 2.4GHz Wireless/Bluetooth/Wired
- Weight: 81 grams | Max DPI: 19,000
The Burst Pro Air features a honeycomb design which is quite common on lightweight mice. Moreover, the mouse trades its competitor’s ergonomic shape and instead opts for a symmetrical shape. It does require some time to get used to, but the rubber sides do add to the overall grip.
ROCCAT is known for a lot of things, but designing good software isn’t one of them. And that remains of the biggest issues with the Burst Pro Air. You get 6 buttons along with 4-zone customizable RGB lighting. Unfortunately, using the ROCCAT Swarm software isn’t easy owing to its weird UI. The good part is that the onboard memory works flawlessly, and most consumers stick to it.
4. Razer Viper Ultimate FPS Gaming Mouse

- Weight: 74 grams | Max DPI: 20,000
Similar to the ROCCAT Burst Pro Air, the Razer Viper Ultimate also features an ambidextrous design. This makes it equally comfortable for left-handed or right-handed gamers. Also, while palm grip gamers might not consider this the ideal mouse, it’s undeniably the best gaming mouse for claw grip gamers.
You can charge the Viper Ultimate either via the in-box USB cable or by forking a little extra to get the wireless dock. However, users have reported that charging the mouse via the cable takes forever, so we’d recommend getting the dock bundle. Razer claims about 70 hours of battery life on a single charge, and users don’t really have any complaints about that.
What you will find yourself struggling with is Razer’s quality control. The Razer Viper Ultimate is one of the best gaming mice for FPS games, but the left and right clicks do omit a creaking sound on some units. The good part is that Razer will happily replace your unit in case you do face such issues.
5. HyperX Pulsefire Raid Wired FPS Gaming Mouse

The HyperX Pulsefire Raid is one of the most comfortable gaming mice, thanks to its design along with the added rubberized side grips. You get a total of five side buttons, alongside two scroll wheel tilt buttons. This basically allows you to have most of your combat controls on the mouse itself, which is great.
You might find yourself disappointed with the lack of RGB zones, with only the scroll wheel and the HyperX logo having lights underneath them. That being said, they are fully customizable with HyperX’s NGENUITY Software available on the Microsoft Store. The good part is that unlike most of the options suggested above, HyperX’s software is well-optimized and super easy to use, even for first-time users.
6. Cooler Master MM720 Super Lightweight Gaming Mouse

- Weight: 49 grams |Â Max DPI: 32,000
The Cooler Master MM720 isn’t the flashiest gaming mouse out there, but you still get customizable RGB lighting that looks very neat. Also, not just the mouse, but even the ultraweave cable is super lightweight which doesn’t add too much drag when using the mouse. As a result, you don’t have to rely on using a separate mouse bungie.
The design of the MM720 is quite ergonomic, but it is definitely tuned for a claw grip. That being said, if you have large hands, you might not find this a comfortable fit. Add to that, the mouse only features two side buttons, which might be a deal breaker for some consumers.
One of the reasons why the Cooler Master MM720 is a great gaming mouse for FPS games is because of the sensors’ lift-off distance. Thanks to that, you can easily pick up the mouse to reposition your aim without having to worry about accidental tracking.
