The Samsung Galaxy Note8 was unveiled globally at a grand event in New York last month and was launched into the Indian market earlier this month.
The Galaxy Note8, featuring dual cameras, and IP68-certified water and dust resistant design is available for pre-orders on Amazon India until September 21, 2017, and here are ten reasons why you should consider buying the device.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 adds a new feature to its Always-on display on the lock screen. Now users can view and edit either a fresh or an existing notepad on the lock screen.
This notepad can take inputs on up to 100 pages without the need of unlocking the device.
Dual OIS and Dual Image Capture
While the other devices in the market sporting a dual-camera unit feature only one single lens with OIS, both the sensors on the dual camera of the Samsung Galaxy Note8 feature OIS. This not only improves the image quality but also stabilizes videos.
The dual-lens setup of the Galaxy Note8 works as an independent unit while clicking photos. So, the telephoto lens clicks a different image and the wide image lens a different one, giving two perspectives within a single click.
Samsung has taken the DSLR-like ‘Bokeh’ effect a notch up on the Galaxy Note8’s camera. The Bokeh effect helps in focusing on the subject in the foreground while blurring the background.
Using this feature, users can increase or decrease the intensity of the blurriness in real-time. Just slide to increase or decrease the blur. This feature works even after the image has been captured.
The Live Message feature on the Samsung Galaxy Note8 enables users to customize GIFs, emojis, and photos.
These messages can then be saved on the device in a standard format accepted by all social media or messaging service and shared with the contacts.
Translate with S Pen
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 comes with its signature ‘S Pen’, which is now better designed and more efficient than before. The S pen boasts the same IP68 water and dust resistance and is held at the bottom of the device.
Apart from its many other uses like taking notes, doodling or such creative uses, the S Pen can also be used to highlight text on the screen that needs to be translated.
Bixby Takes Voice Commands and Translates too
After several months of delays, Samsung’s smart assistant finally started understanding commands in English and that capability was rolled out to more than 200 countries globally earlier this week.
The Galaxy Note8 users will meet a functional Bixby which can follow your commands right from calling your friend to calling a cab to get to your friend and much more.
Similar to other smart assistants on mobile offered by Google and Apple, Bixby integrates machine learning and so it becomes better with time at understanding your preferences and recurring commands.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 will feature Bixby which not only helps you to take a photo or call a cab without touching the screen, it can also translate live via your camera feed.
Given the big screen-size of the Samsung Galaxy Note8, it’s even easier to multitask with the seamless two-apps in one (split) screen ‘App Pair’ feature. The split-screen feature was a part of Android Nougat update.
Going by Samsung’s event launch example, it can be used well while driving as you’ll have better visibility of the Maps as well as easier control over the music player.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 holds an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, which allows the device to be submerged inside water up till 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes. This also protects the device against accidental splashes and drops.
Biometrics for Security
Privacy of one’s device is paramount and in order to keep your data private from prying eyes or mischevious friends, the Galaxy Note8 features three biometric scanners which can be used as a tool to unlock the device. These include a fingerprint scanner, iris scanner, and facial recognition.
Bluetooth 5.0 and Wireless Charging
Samsung Galaxy Note8 adds to the short list of smartphones globally which currently support Bluetooth 5.0 wireless tech. The other devices include Galaxy S8/S8+, LG V30, OnePlus 5 and Xiaomi Mi 6.
The Galaxy Note8 also gets support for wireless charging, which means no hassles for wires while charging — simply dock your phone and wait for the Fast Charge to do its magic. The device can also be docked in a slanted position to continue working while charging.
