Display and Design

The OnePlus 5 undoubtedly borrows a lot from Apple’s iPhone 7 form factor and it shows. The device sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) AMOLED display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the home button located on the front panel of the device, flanked by capacitive touch buttons for going back or checking out the recent apps.

Memory, Storage, and Processor

Going strong on the hardware front, the OnePlus 5 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest offering, the octa-core Snapdragon 835 chipset. It’s the thinnest processor chip at 10nm, which clocks at 2.45GHz and is supported by the Adreno 540 GPU.

The processor not only consumes less battery but also renders graphics quicker.

The device comes in two variants. One of the variants sports 6GB of RAM accompanied by 64GB (UFS 2.1) of internal storage while the higher one sports 8GB of RAM accompanied by 128GB of internal storage. None of them come with an expandable storage slot.

OnePlus has hopped onto the camera innovation bandwagon by introducing the dual-lens camera setup.

The primary camera setup on the rear gets dual 16-megapixel (wide) and 20-megapixel (telephoto) lenses with a dual-LED flash and the front sports a 16-megapixel camera.

The device runs on Android Nougat out of the box and is expected to soon get an Android Oreo update. The OnePlus 5 will be available in Midnight Black and Slate Gray colors.

Corroborating with earlier reports, OnePlus 5 will be smoother than ever as the company has not only focused on providing the best hardware specs to its new flagship killer but has worked on its software to perform well in sync with the hardware.
