Overwhelming demand for the new iPhone X has definitely put a big smile on company’s face. But there might be a bad news for you if you are planning to get one this year.
Major Shortage of iPhone X in 2017
The iPhone X is the most ambitious phone by Apple till date and has a few big hurdles on its way. Apple had to change their entire assembly line for this device since it is different from the rest of the iPhones. Plus, the display is supplied by Samsung, which is another bottleneck.
According to a report by MacRumors, KGI Securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reasons to believe that the Apple iPhone X shipment would be majorly affected. Apple’s manufacturing capacity for iPhone X is under 10,000 units a day and would not be enough to meet global demand this year.
“We believe the fullscreen design and facial recognition features will drive replacement demand for the iPhone X. However, due to supply constraints, we expect market demand won’t be fully met before 1H18. We revise down our forecast for 2017F iPhone X shipments from 45-50 million to around 40 million units, but we, therefore, revise up our 2018 iPhone X shipment estimate to 80-90 million units,” Kuo said.
2018 Looking Better
Apple is looking at revamping its production, but would only be able to meet the demand next year. What that means is that countries, where Apple iPhone X is launching later, would have a severe shortage of this device.
iPhone X India Launch
Apple has revealed that the new iPhone X will be making its way to India on November 3. The device will be available for pre-booking starting October 27 and will start shipping in the following weeks of November. With the device launching in the US, the UK, and other countries before India, there is likely to be a shortage of this phone here.
