WhatsApp Update App with 2 New Features But There is a Catch

WhatsApp has updated their app with two new features — text-only 24-hour long Status update and picture-in-picture video calling in the latest stable update (version 2.17.323). While the text status update is available to all Android devices, the picture-in-picture video calling feature will only be available on devices running Android 8.0 Oreo.

Both the text-only Status and picture-in-picture video calling feature were being tested in beta since July, the latter was only available for devices running Android O developer’s build.

Still, picture-in-picture video calling feature, which lets you continue using WhatsApp during a video call without losing the feed, is only available to the handful of Nexus and Pixel devices running Android Oreo.
