Spectranet, one of India’s oldest internet service providers (ISP), which until now was largely focussed on serving businesses, is now rebranding itself and laying focus on the mass consumer’s market. Towards that end, they have launched new 100mbps broadband plans with no FUP.

The company has rebranded itself as Spectra and is offering the new unlimited internet plans with no usage cap in all the eight cities it currently covers — Gurugram, Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Ghaziabad, Noida and Chennai.
The company came into business in 2000 but has fallen behind in the race against other ISPs. ACT Fibernet, which was launched much later, is now the third largest ISP in India behind Airtel and BSNL.
To gain ground, the company has launched broadband plans unlimited internet plans with slight variations in prices and plans that are being offered.
Per se, plans in Bengaluru start at Rs 899 with ‘Spectra Basic’ while plans in New Delhi start at Rs 1249. The ‘Spectra Unlimited’ plan being offered for Rs 1249 in New Delhi and Bengaluru, costs Rs 1349 for subscribers in Chennai.
“By rebranding to Spectra, we intend to bring a new level of broadband experience to consumers. We are fully committed to offer higher speeds, better service, and an overall better experience to our customers; at par with services offered globally in the developed countries,” said Mr. Udit Mehrotra, MD and CEO, Spectra.
Spectra Unlimited Plans
All of the Spectra broadband plans offer the same 100mbps speed but the Spectra Basic plan doesn’t offer unlimited FUP, rather comes with a 150GB limit. Subscribers can avail unlimited FUP benefits with Spectra Unlimited and costlier plans.
The Spectra Basic plan will cost users a first time fee of Rs 4241, which includes the subscription fee of Rs 899 per month, an installation fee of Rs 1000, a security deposit of Rs 2000 and Rs 342 in taxes at 18 percent.
With Spectra Unlimited which is being offered at Rs 1249 per month (in New Delhi), users will get the benefit of no usage caps.
The Spectra Entertainment plan at Rs 1549 offers the premium subscription of Hungama Music Pro, Hungama Play, in addition to no usage caps.
