According to Android Police’s report, OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 5 will also soon be receiving an Android Oreo beta update and these updates are tipped to be available in public beta by the end of September.
This news comes only a few days after the Oxygen OS Open Beta 23 and 14 releases for OnePlus 3 and 3T, respectively which added features to the camera, enhanced system stability, update device’s security patch and more additions including bug fixes.
The company’s announcement earlier this year around the release of OnePlus 5 that OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 devices will be discontinued was met with criticism from the users who weren’t sure whether they’ll receive the promised Android Oreo on their previous year’s flagship devices.
Although the company had confirmed that both the devices will receive consistent software updates, the users were skeptical since the company hadn’t kept its promise of releasing Android Nougat to OnePlus 2.
But now according to the latest reports, the 799MB large Oxygen OS update for OnePlus 3 with Android Oreo has been rolled out to the closed beta group. The update won’t be a stable one and all those on the closed beta might experience lags and issues with wireless connectivity.
While Google is the only company till now which has already rolled out stable Android 8.0 Oreo builds for its Pixel and Nexus devices, OnePlus seems to be ahead of its competition in the race to roll out the latest Android OS for its own devices.
The company will try to roll out stable builds of its Oxygen OS updated to Android Oreo by the end of the month and it won’t be surprising if they do because their OS is close to stock Android and customizations shouldn’t take a long time.
