Moto G5S Plus and Moto G5S: 5 Key Specs, Price, When and Where it Goes on Sale

The Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus have been launched at an event in New Delhi on Tuesday. The Moto G5S will retail at Rs 13,999 and the Moto G5S Plus will be available at a price of Rs 15,999 and both of them will go on sale online as an Amazon Exclusive starting 11:59 pm tonight and offline across Moto Hub stores.

Lenovo-owned Motorola seems to be looking to build upon the sales of its Moto G (5th generation) devices and going with the trend, has launched a dual-camera variant in the same series.

The Moto G5S was first unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona earlier this year and sports a metal unibody, as does the Moto G5S Plus.

The company also announced that the Moto G5S will be available tonight on Amazon at a special price of Rs 11,999.

Specs of Moto G5S

  • Display: The Moto G5S will sport a 5.2-inch Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
  • Processor: The device will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC which clocks at 1.4GHz.
  • Memory and Storage: It will come with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.
  • Camera: The primary camera features a 16MP fast focus PDAF camera. The front camera gets an 8MP sensor with flash.
  • Battery and OS: The Moto G5S Plus will run on Android Nougat 7.1.1 out-of-the-box and will be backed by a 3000 mAh battery pack.

Specs of Moto G5S Plus

  • Display: The Moto G5S Plus will sport a 5.5-inch Full HD display.
  • Processor: The device will be powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC which clocks at 2GHz and is supported by Adreno 506 GPU.
  • Memory and Storage: The Moto G5S Plus comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
  • Camera: The primary camera will feature a dual-camera setup with two 13MP lenses (Monochrome and RGB). The front camera gets an 8MP sensor with flash.
  • Battery and OS: The Moto G5S Plus will run on Android Nougat 7.1.1 out-of-the-box and will be backed by a 3000 mAh battery pack.

The device will be available in Lunar Grey and Blush Gold colors. With the addition of the dual-camera to the device, Motorola plans to take photography a notch above.

Both the devices also support the proprietary TurboPower charging and the metal unibody design gives a sturdy and premium feel to the devices.

The company also announced a price drop for its Moto G5 Plus device which will now be available at Rs 14,999.

While mobile computing technology is evolving at a fast pace, mobile phone manufacturers have been focusing towards advancements in the camera setup and now Moto seems to be catching up to the dual-camera trend in mid-range smartphones which was started last year.
