Xiaomi launched the latest version of their operating system, the MIUI 9, at an event in Beijing last month, and now the MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 7.8.24 has been rolled out for the second batch of devices.
The MIUI 9 was launched alongside the launch of the Mi 5X device, the Mi AI smart speaker and the limited edition Mi6 Mercury Silver.
The new update brings few new features as well as fixes and optimizations. These include a new name and icon for Mi Picks and a redesigned home page.
In addition to that, a fix has been applied to the issue when the wallpaper carousel couldn’t load online resources in lock screen, status bar or notification bar. Other than this, the Mi Remote app now only supports Mi TV or Mi Box.
The first batch of supported devices which have already received the MIUI 9 Global ROM included:
Redmi Note 4 (Qualcomm)
Redmi Note 4X
Now the company has rolled out the update for the second batch of devices which includes:
Mi Note 2
Mi 5s Plus
Mi Max 2
The third batch of devices which are yet to receive the update include Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Mi 3, Mi 4, Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm), Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 4 (MTK), Mi 4i, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 2, 2S, Mi Note, Redmi 3/Prime, Redmi 3S/Prime, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 Prime.
How to Update to the Latest MIUI 9 ROM?
The MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM 7.8.24 for all the aforementioned devices can be downloaded here.
Updating to the latest MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM can be done in the following five steps:
Back up your data before initiating the update.
Devices running on MIUI 5, 6, 7 or 8 stable ROM can upgrade to MIUI 9 via the fastboot method.
Those using MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM can check for updates via the ‘Updater’.
Ensure that your device’s bootloader is unlocked before fastboot flashing.
Flash the MIUI ROM on your supported Xiaomi device.
