Switchr puts your uploaded audio files through a three step conversion process. The online application supports WAV, MP3, AAC, AIF, AU, FLAC, OGG, M4A, WMA and iPhone ringtone file formats. Switchr is game for the job if the file size is within 100 MB. That, I think is sufficient for more than enough for any conversion job.
If you have a file that needs to be converted from its original format, here’s how you go about it.
Switchr doesn’t need a registration. The on-demand service is free for all and all you need to do is select your source file from the desktop and click on the large red Switch Your File button to upload it to Switchr.
Choose from one of the available ten formats. The app also can create iPhone ringtones with a max length of 29 seconds. You can get into a few advanced options like Bit Rate and Sample Rate too. Not much, but handy if you want to reduce the file size slightly.
The last stage is where you enter your email address. After processing, the download link to the converted audio file is emailed to you. The download link remains active for 72 hours.
Switchr is a very simple audio conversion tool with an attractive, easy to read and easy to understand interface. Audio tools usually scare away newbies with their perplexing options. Switchr is just the thing for someone who is not too nimble footed around computers.
