6 Free Games for PlaySta­tion Plus Mem­bers this August


August is around the corner and so is the new lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus members. Sony has announced that the Instant Game Collection will be added with a few more games.

The games this time around include a war adventure and another popular one from the Assassins Creed series for PS4 owners that will be made available in the first week of August after the July free games will be discontinued from the collection.

Each PlayStation platform — the PS Vita, PS4, and PS3 — get two titles each, with PS4 getting an additional third and fourth one which is otherwise also available for PS Vita, courtesy of cross play.

The August Lineup

  • Just Cause 3 (PS 4)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry (PS4)
  • Super Motherload (PS3)
  • Snakeball (PS3)
  • Downwell (PS Vita, cross buy with PS4)
  • Level 22 (PS Vita, cross buy with PS4)

In addition to announcing the PS Plus free games for July, Sony is also offering its PlayStation Plus members a shot at That’s You from July 4 to October 24 in celebration of PlayLink’s Launch.

The game can be played among up to five family or friends using a smartphone or tablet via the free companion app and included tons of questions, texting games and drawing challenges to learn what others in the group think about you.

Orcs Must Die Unchained was also released on July 18 and PlayStation Plus members not only gain access to the game but will also be awarded exclusive Orcs Must Die Unchained Plus Pack worth $20 until August 15.

Sony has also released PlayStation Plus Summer Movies for six weeks, featuring six popular titles Boss Baby, Logan and more. These movies can be rented for a period of 30 days for merely $0.99.

Other than that, for free-to-play, Dreadnaught is launching in open beta on August 1 and will be offering a $20 PlayStation Plus pack starting August 15. PS Plus members will also get Ravenswood Plus Pack free.

To add a cherry to the top, Sony has also announced that Doom will be free to play for all PlayStation Plus members from July 27 until July 30. Members will also get a 50 percent discount on the full game purchase from August 3rd onwards.
