TCL Corporation has refreshed its Smart TV lineup with the launch of the TCL P2MUS 4K UHD TV at an event in New Delhi today. Available for a price of Rs. 62,990 (55-inch), the TCL smart TV is seen as a direct competition to the smart TVs offered by Sony or Samsung.
The TCL P-series is mostly known for its excellent image quality and rich contrast and this one is also no different. Armed with a slim and shiny metallic frame, super narrow bezels and great hardware, the TCL P-Series packs in both beauty and brawn.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg, for the TCL smart TV comes with an array of interesting features. Here, we have lined up the top 11 TCL P2MUS UHD TV Features
This article was written after using the TCL P2MUS Smart TV for two weeks.
1. Built-in Chromecast Support
The TCL smart TV comes with a built-in Chromecast support. Not only will you be able to cast music and audio to the TV but also you’ll be able to cast content directly from over 1,000 Chromecast-enabled apps.
Moreover, you can also mirror your phone screen and customize your TV screen. For more details on this feature check out the Chromecast built-in website.
Though not many streaming apps support 4K HDR as of now, with the TCL Smart TV you can be future ready. Similar to the PS 4 Pro, it won’t be long before other apps start offering the service.
3. Stock Google Certified Android M Experience
With the TCL smart TV, you’ll get a stock Android TV OS experience along with the Google Play Store which means that you can have access to all the apps out there.
If you ask me, I favor it over the custom OS that comes with popular brands like Sony and Samsung. The custom OS has their own custom app store which includes a few limited apps. But with TCL, you not only get the TCL app store but Play Store too.
4. Powerful Configuration
The TCL Smart TV is powered by an A53 64 bit quad-core CPU and packs with 2.5 GB RAM and 16 GB of storage. This combination of the above hardware means that the performance will be smooth with the minimal lags and jitters.
Moreover, for multitasking purposes, you’ll be able to jump between apps or play a couple of low-level games seamlessly.
5. Multimedia Ready Remote with Air Mouse
The TV comes packed with two remotes – the first is the traditional one which is used for switching channels and would be useful if you are using a cable connection. The second one, however, is smaller yet more powerful and multimedia ready with voice input remote control.
The first sign of the above claim is the dedicated Netflix button on the remote.
This nifty remote also doubles up as an air mouse after the initial pairing. All you need to do now is activate the cursor and float the remote in your hand to select from the TV options.
This Air Mouse makes it super easy to work on apps — be it selecting the options from settings or using the on-screen keyboard to search.
6. Nifty TCL APP with Content Catalog
The TCL app consolidates a number of apps like YouTube and YepTV under one roof, thus giving you a neat content catalog. What’s more, you can also manage apps, install/uninstall directly from the phone.
Aforesaid, the TCL TV comes with two remotes but if both the remotes aren’t enough, you can easily use your phone or tablet as a remote.
7. Reverse Casting Supported
Now, this is another rare feature. Imagine a scenario where you are watching a movie with a group, but at the same time have to take care of an issue in another room. Well, in normal condition, you’d have to miss the movie a bit, but with the TCL smart TV, you can take the movie with you on your phone.
All you have to do is activate the app from the settings and you are done. What’s more, you can even use your phone as a mini remote control.
8. Play Games with Bluetooth Controller
As we already mentioned, the TV comes with a powerful processor and therefore casual games can be played on it using the boxed remotes.
But if you want a console like gaming experience, you can connect a Bluetooth gaming controller and enjoy pro-gaming and trust me, on that 55-inches display, it’s a whole different experience.
Most of the smart TVs, Android Boxes, and even the latest Amazon Fire Stick comes with voice search support that makes searching content a walk in the park. But a majority of the times, the voice search is limited to just the home screen and don’t extend to 3rd party apps like YouTube and Netflix.
But in the TCL smart TV, you can search using your voice globally. That means, whether you are trying to launch an app or searching for a music video on YouTube, you can simply press the microphone icon on the remote and just say it out to the TV.
10. Slim Design with Ample Ports
4 HDMI ports! Yes, that’s what caught my attention in the first place. In keeping up with the motto of ‘more is always good’, the TCL smart TV packs in 4 HDMI ports. So, my Xbox, satellite TV, and Amazon Fire Stick are connected to the TV, all at the same time, without the need to fiddle with the cables.
Moreover, the two USB ports are an added advantage. Especially with an output of 0.9 amps, it can easily power devices like Fire TV with adequate power.
Apart from that, you also get a 3.5-mm audio jack to hook on additional speakers. Plus, it also has its share of optical and component ports to cover all domains necessary. And all of these are wrapped up in a metallic frame at 11 mm.
11. Dual Band WiFi Support
The TCL smart TV has the support for dual band WiFi which means that it has the support for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band. So, if your home network also has the support for a dual band network, it would essentially mean that the TCL smart TV would run into minimal interference while it streams your shows online.
