Xiaomi has just released a couple of product images of the Mi 5X, giving us our first ever complete look at the upcoming smartphone. Set to release on July 26, 2017, this will be a premium mid-range device with dual rear camera lens. Taking a cue from the latest images, it seems that the Mi 5X has taken some design-inspiration from the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
The latest official pictures of the Xiaomi Mi 5X indicates that the phone will launch in three color variants, namely, pink, gold and black. The front of the handset is covered with a 2.5D curved glass and three capacitive buttons. The power and volume rocker keys are placed at the right and the 3.5 mm jack has been moved to the bottom of the device.
The Mi 5X is seen to sport a full metal body with iPhone 7-like antenna bands. Overall, the handset does look a lot like the latest iPhone or the OnePlus 5 or Oppo R11. There is one difference though. Xiaomi has placed the fingerprint scanner at the back of its upcoming handset while all others feature the same at the front.
Coming to the specifications, the Mi 5X is expected to rock a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) display and the Snapdragon 625 SoC. However, new rumors suggest that the phone might even pack the Snapdragon 660 chipset.
Memory-wise, Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone will get a standard 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
Moving onto the optics, the Mi 5X is presumed to feature a 12MP + 12MP dual camera setup, similar to the Mi 6. However, there won’t be any OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).
Xiaomi will unveil the Mi 5X along with the MIUI 9 at an event scheduled on 26th July 2017. The company has already received more than 100,000 registrations for the first sale of the upcoming smartphone. Regarding pricing, the Mi 5X would cost around 1999 Yuan ($296 USD or Rs 19,000 INR approx.).
