After its sad demise at the hands Microsoft, the Nokia brand was reprised by HMD Global and three new variants — Nokia 3, 5 and 6 — running on Android operating system were launched globally. Now reports have surfaced that a high-end Nokia 8 might be unveiled soon.
Earlier this month, Nokia’s entire (rumoured) schedule for the release of their upcoming devices in 2017 was revealed. According to the rumour, Nokia are working on four new devices — Nokia 2, 7, 8, and 9,
Since making its comeback into the fast evolving world of smartphones, Nokia has only released mid-range budget phones but they might be working towards bigger and better things.
According to a report by WinFuture, a German website, Nokia 8 is scheduled to be launched on July 31 and they’ve revealed a tentative specsheet for the upcoming high-end device which will compete with flagships from Apple, Samsung, Google and others.
The Nokia 8 will come with Qualcomm’s latest octa-core Snapdragn 835 chipset which clocks at 2.45GHz and is supported by Adreno 540 GPU.
The device is said to come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
The Nokia 8 might come in single and dual sim variants.
It will sports a 5.7-inch 2K display unit and will run on Android Nougat 7.1.
The Nokia 8 is also rumoured to come with 13MP dual-lens camera setup.
The Nokia 8 is rumoured to come at a price of €589 (Rs 43,500 approx).
While this might seem like a pretty hefty price tag for a brand which has just re-entered the smartphone business among growing competition, the Nokia 8 might be retailed at a lower price in the markets in developing countries.
While there has been no confirmation of whether the Nokia 8 will hit the Indian market or not, given Nokia’s nostalgic value in the minds of Indian mobile phones users, it’s seems highly likely that the company will sell the device in the country.
