LG might be working on a new smaller variant of its LG G6 flagship that comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio for display.
According to reports, LG might not be naming the phone as LG G6 Mini but might decide to call it LG Q6. The rumours caught wind after LG sent out event invites for the launch of the Q6 in Poland. Reports also suggest that the smartphone may be officially launched on July 11.
While there is no direct hint on the invite about the phone’s relation to the LG G6, the new Q6 is expected to come with the same aspect ratio as the G6 but with a smaller display.
The rumours assume significance as recent reports also indicate that Samsung after a long time is planning a mini version of Samsung Galaxy S8. The S5 Mini was the last of its kind produced by Samsung.
In terms of specifications, the iPhone 7-sized Samsung Galaxy S8 Mini is expected to come with 32GB of internal memory, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 4GB of RAM making it similar to Google Pixel. The S8 Mini will also sport a 5.3-inch edge-to-edge or infinity display compared to the 5.8-inch Samsung Galaxy S8.
Coming back to the LGQ6, it is still not clear what size the company will choose for the screen. In terms of other specifications, the Q6 is expected to come with 3GB of RAM, which is lesser than LG G6 that has 4GB of RAM.
For optics, the Q6 might just include a singular 13-megapixel unit. This simply means that LG will downgrade the specifications a bit to produce a model that is more affordable.
Earlier, the company has released LG G6+ model as well to attract premium users. LG also released a 32GB variant of the G6 making it a little more affordable for some consumers.
Rumors also suggest than a HTC U11 mini is in the works as well.
