Moto Z2 is in the news again as popular tipster Evan Blass has tweeted official product images of the upcoming flagship. The successor of the Moto Z features a sleek metal body with a dual camera setup at the back. However, the 3.5mm headphone jack seems to be missing. Motorola is expected to launch the Moto Z2 along with the Moto Z2 Force later this month.
Speaking of the specifications, the second generation Moto Z has already been listed at GFXBench. The forthcoming handset is seen to sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display. While the standard Moto Z2 will come with a Gorilla Glass coating on top of the screen, the Z2 Force is likely to feature a ShatterShield glass.
Both the Moto Z2 and the Z2 Force will rock premium build quality with the latter excelling in robustness.
Now, let’s talk about the internal hardware. The mighty Snapdragon 835 chip might power the Moto Z2. The high-end SoC already shows off its capabilities in smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+, Xiaomi Mi 6 or OnePlus 5. The SD 835 packs eight custom-made Kyro 280 cores clocked at up to 2.45 GHz. This is mated with an Adreno 540 GPU.
Coming to the memory and storage, the Moto Z2 will sport at least 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage.
Moving on to the optics, the next generation Moto Z shall boast a dual camera setup at the back. While we know that one of the lenses will be a 12 MP unit, we are yet to get any information about the other one. The front camera is alleged to be a 5 MP shooter. Needless to say, the Moto Z2 will be able to shoot 4K as well as slow motion videos.
Regarding connectivity, Motorola’s upcoming flagship would support all the usual options like 4G LTE, VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, etc. Leaked renders indicate that the Moto Z2 should sport a Type-C USB port but no 3.5mm jack. So, you can expect a Type-C to 3.5mm converter bundled inside the retail box.
The Moto Z2 will be compatible with all the existing Motorola Moto Mods.

The leaked image seems to be the AT&T model of the Moto Z2. This clearly indicates that Motorola will not make its upcoming flagship exclusive to Verizon in the US. The next generation Moto Z is expected to first launch in the international market later this month. It should come to India some weeks later.
Regarding the pricing, we are yet to come across any solid info. The Z2 would probably cost a bit higher than the launch price of the original Moto Z, which was around $625 USD or Rs. 39,999 INR.
