Motorola Moto X4 is the upcoming premium midrange smartphone from the Lenovo-owned company. Popular tipster Evan Blass, in his article at VentureBeat, has given us an insight of the handset’s specifications. He also tweeted out the first ever press render of the Moto X4. Expected to release later this year, the phone will sport a dual camera and the Snapdragon 630 SoC.
Moto X4 Specs
The Moto X4 is expected to feature a robust, yet premium metal body. A 2.5D curved 5.2-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) display might sit at the front.
The phone will come with a front-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in its home button. However, there won’t be any capacitive keys. Instead, the home button shall double up as the back and multitasking keys with simple gestures.
It is worth noting that the Motorola Moto X4 would be an IP68 certified water and dust resistant handset.
Coming to the internals, the upcoming midrange will allegedly pack the Snapdragon 630 chipset. This is purely a middle-class SoC with eight Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 2.2 GHz mated with an Adreno 508 GPU. The SD 630 is the successor of the Snapdragon 625 / 626 and comes with LPDDR4 RAM support and a better ISP (Image Signal Processor).
Moving on to the memory department, the Moto X4 should max out at 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage. There will be a micro SD card slot though.
One of the most exciting parts of the 2017 Moto X would be its camera setup. The handset is going to come with a dual lens rear shooter and a capable selfie unit. The former will consist of a 12 MP plus 8 MP snappers while a single 16 MP camera shall sit at the front.
Speaking of connectivity, the Moto X4 should support 4G LTE, VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0 and all of the other usual options. Motorola’s upcoming smartphone is also expected to be the first non-Google device to be compliant with the search engine giant’s Project Fi wireless service.
For starters, Project Fi is a Google initiative to facilitate seamless switching between Sprint, T-Mobile and other telecom operators in the US as well as various Wi-Fi hotspots to get the best available network connection at a particular place.
Lastly, a 3000mAh battery would juice up the Moto X4.
Moto X4 Release Date and Pricing [Expected]
The Moto X4 is set to go official near the end of this year, probably just before the festive season. Regarding pricing, it may cost around the same as the Moto Z2 Play. However, these are petty assumptions at the moment.
