Google Pixel 2 Rumour Roundup: 3 Things We Know So Far

Google launched its premium range of Pixel devices last year in a bid to compete with the likes of Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series devices and Google’s brains behind the device has confirmed that Pixel series will see another addition this year.

Barring a few bugs, the Google Pixel arguably established itself as the best Android smartphone last year with unarguably the best picture quality from its primary camera.

This year as we await the release one of this year’s highly anticipated smartphone — and Google’s second homemade flagship device — the Pixel 2, here are all the rumours that we’ve heard so far.

Google Pixel 2: Top 3 Rumours

It’s a no-brainer that Google will load their phone with the latest hardware available at the time of release and make the Pixel 2 a significant improvement over its predecessor.

Pixel 2 Might Get Waterproofing

The Google Pixel was missing an important feature — water resistance, which garnered some negative feedback from the users given its premium retail price — and since the Google Pixel 2 is supposed to address everything that went wrong with Google’s first homegrown flagship, it’s tipped to be water resistant.

More so since both of its competitors, Apple and Samsung, released their devices flagship devices with waterproofing.

Headphone Jack Might be Missing

The rumour mills have been churning relentlessly and one other rumour doing the rounds is that the Google Pixel 2 might do away with the standard 3.5mm headphone jack.

While this is a possibility as the world is transitioning towards wireless audio tech — speakers and headsets, both — Google’s pot shot on Apple during their last year’s Pixel launch for not sporting a 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus might mean that Google is still not ready to let go of the 3.5mm audio jack.

Display Size

According to a report in the Forbes, Google’s new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL handsets will sports a 4.97-inch FHD and 5.99-inch QHD OLED panels which will be supplied by LG.

Other than these, the Pixel 2 is also being tipped to be launched in three variants, sport a Snapdragon 835 chipset (or a later version) and an improved camera.
