While there are plenty of games and apps on the Google Play Store to choose from, there is a dearth of the good ones and in order to recognise the ones that are worth every user’s time, Google has initiated the quarterly Android Excellence awards.
In a revamp to the Editor’s Choice section in the Play Store, which previously featured a curated selection of apps and games, an ‘Android Excellence Awardees‘ section has been added.
This section within the Editor’s Choice category will feature 16 of the best apps and games from the Play Store and it will be refreshed every three months.
“We’ve seen a significant increase in the level of polish and quality of apps and games on Google Play. As part of our efforts to recognize this content on the Play Store, today we’re launching Android Excellence,” the company stated.
The apps and games awarded the Android Excellence title will be judged on the following parameters: use of Play Store’s best practices, design of the app, technical performance, localisation and device optimisation.
“The new collections will showcase apps and games that deliver incredible user experiences on Android,” the company added.
Needless to say, since there is no discrimination between paid and free apps, these apps and games will represent the cream of the crowd on the Google Play Store.
