FIFA 18 Revealed: 7 Things to Know

Following the unveiling of Konami’s upcoming PES 18, EA Sports has finally decided to give their audience a glimpse of what the next iteration of its famous football video game — FIFA 18 — will look like with the reveal trailer.

EA Sports

Corroborating with earlier reports, FIFA 18 is slated for a September release and features Cristiano Ronaldo as the new cover star.

“FIFA 18 is fueled by Cristiano Ronaldo, all-time top scorer of Real Madrid C.F. and winner of the Best FIFA Men’s Player Award,” EA wrote alongside the reveal.

When is FIFA 18 Releasing?

EA Sports

Like every year, EA Sports will be releasing FIFA 18 on September 29, 2017.

PS4, Xbox One and PC Origin players can pick up the upcoming edition three days earlier on September 26 if they pre-order either the Ronaldo or Icon edition of the game which comes with other FUT add-ons as well.

Which Consoles Will Run FIFA 18?

EA Sports

Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC will support the new edition of FIFA, though few of the features will be unavailable on Nintendo Switch as well as the older Xbox and PS consoles.

How Much Will FIFA 18 Cost?

FIFA 18 is already available for pre-order via the official Playstation, Xbox and Origin game stores.

On Origin, the Ronaldo Edition is available for $79.99 (Rs. 4,799), the Icon Edition for $89.99 (Rs.5,499) and the Standard Edition for $59.99 (Rs.3,499). The pricing may vary according to the region.

Will FIFA 18 Feature ‘The Journey’ Mode?

EA Sports

Yes, after a successful first season Alex Hunter will return with The Journey: Hunter Returns as the fans were left asking for more with the abrupt ending of the first season in FIFA 17.

The only bad news here is that Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Switch owners will not get to be a part Alex Hunter’s journey as this mode isn’t available on these consoles.

Does FIFA 18 Run on Frostbite Engine?

EA Sports

EA Sports announced the Frostbite Engine with FIFA 17, which will feature again in the upcoming FIFA 18 edition — adding to the in-game environment and fluidity on the pitch.

Sadly, FIFA 18 for Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Switch users will not feature the Frostbite engine as the hardware in these consoles can not support the heavy graphics needed for Frostbite.

“Are you ready for your biggest season yet? Powered by Frostbite, FIFA 18 blurs the line between the virtual and real worlds, bringing to life the heroes, teams and atmospheres of the world’s game,” the company states on Origin website.

Difference between FIFA 18 Icon, Ronaldo and Standard Editions?

EA Sports

EA Sports is offering benefits to FIFA Ultimate Team players as they’re offering special edition FIFA 18 titles which not only give them a three-day early access to the game, but also various FUT benefits.

The Icon Edition is only available for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC, and will come with the following benefits:

  • 40 Jumbo Premium Gold Packs (2 per week for 20 weeks)
  • TOTW Loan Player Packs (One 3-match loan player for 20 weeks)
  • Cristiano Ronaldo Loan (5 FUT matches)
  • Ronaldo Nazario Icon Loan (5 FUT matches)
  • 8 Special Edition FUT kits

While the Standard and Ronaldo Edition, both, give the buyers Cristiano Ronaldo loan for 5 FUT matches and 8 special edition FUT kits, buying the Standard edition will not give you the three-day early access.

Other than all this, the Icon edition gives players $120 worth of Jumbo Premium Gold FUT packs and those who buy Ronaldo and Standard Edition receive $60 and $15 worth of Jumbo Premium Gold FUT packs, respectively.

EA Access Members Can Try FIFA 18 Even Earlier

EA Sports

EA always keeps the best interest of their premium members first and EA Access members will be able to test out the new FIFA 18 title even before the ones who pre-order it.

EA Access members will be able to take an exclusive trial of FIFA 18 starting September 21 — one week before the official launch — free of cost.

If the member decides to buy the game after the free access is revoked, all their game progress will automatically be carried on. What’s more, members can even avail an additional 10% off on the title.
