Soon after confirming the core specs of the upcoming OnePlus 5 device, the company has announced that they’ll be shutting down the production of their current flagship, OnePlus 3T, and there will be none available once the current stock ends.
OnePlus 3T is unarguably the company’s best device by far and although it’s a bit disconcerting to see the flagship killer being discontinued, this move indicates the welcome of the OnePlus 5 which was confirmed to be released in June 2017.

The OnePlus 3T, amidst much fanfare, was launched in November 2016 and gained immense appreciation from users and critics alike, and it was only recently also launched in the limited edition Midnight Black colour.
“It’s been far and away our most successful device yet, and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together. This is the last call to buy the OnePlus 3T before stock runs out,” a OnePlus representative stated.
The company has confirmed that the consistent software updates received by OnePlus 3 and 3T aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“We’ll continue to bring more software updates and support to the OnePlus 3 and 3T,” he added.
Earlier this week, Pete Lau confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will be powered by the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset.
There have been numerous rumours pertaining to the hardware and software specifications upcoming OnePlus flagship killer but the company is yet to release any other official specifications about the OnePlus 5.
Going by the comments in their forum, OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 users seem to be the least impressed of all.
Users are concerned that OnePlus won’t deliver their promise of providing future updates for the OnePlus 3T, as has been the case with its previous devices.
While this might seem like bad news, it’s smart on the part of the company as the keeping up with the current sales pattern of the OnePlus 3T will get hard once the OnePlus 5 is released.
As sad it is to see the flagship killer go — in its true sense, with an excellent price to performance ratio — the OnePlus 3T is getting an upgrade this summer and going by the standards set by this device, the OnePlus 5 should be a beast of a performer.
The remaining OnePlus 3T devices are being sold at the OnePlus online and offline stores and will only be available till stocks last.
Update: A OnePlus Spokesperson confirmed that OnePlus 3T will still be available for sale in India. “The OnePlus 3T (both 64GB and 128GB variants) will continue to be available for purchase in India until later this year.”
“OnePlus products and accessories are available through all three official sales channels, including OnePlus’ online store, Amazon and the OnePlus experience store in Bangalore,” the official statement reads.
